What can I say? I have never heard about this game.. but it looks amazing. If it plays as good as it looks, it will be a huge hit!

I am a huge car-game fan.. I have played countless hours of everything, especially San Francisco Rush 2049 and Twisted Metal series.. (probably the best of their time) and I think this game blends the both nicely..

seeing the screen shots it reminds of of Trackmania but with guns!
or Wipeout but with 4 wheels on the ground!

maybe most accurately, it is this generation's Crash N' Burn .. the legendary game that almost no one could afford to play for the Panasonic 3do.

There have been many games like this through the years, so many that I don't even remember half of their names.. (and that's not counting the 2d ones from back in the day).. I can remember Interstate 76, Vigilante 8, POD Speedzone, Quantum Redshift, Burnout, Full Auto (probably the newest one for XBOX 360), etc... (You can even argue that Mario Kart has similar gameplay). All these games have their take on "car combat".. they have had different styles of game play.. all have left their mark.. but only a few have been truly fun to play. I hope when this comes out, it will go on that list.

this video is kind of rubbish though:

but I like the real-time New's thing..

Keys to this being a great game:
-Massively multiplayer. (like you didn't already know that)
-Control. In racing games control is everything. I understand it's not a realistic sim, but the car has to handle like it would if such a car existed..
-Music. If you remember correctly, this is what made the Wipeout (and Ridge Racer) series.
-Sense of speed. This cannot be like Sega GT or Gran Turismo or people will fall asleep and hit their heads on their desks. On the other hand it cannot be like some extreme levels of Wipeout, unless you want everyone who tries it to give up (except l33t hax0rs like me ). It has to be just right. For example Quantum Redshift had it best.. it was fast, like SF Rush, but when you got a nitrious, it was just crazy (whole screen would blur up). That was a very addictive part of the game.. and that feature has since been stolen in just about everything.

If you ask me. I'd prefer a more realistic game that takes place in modern times.. but since it is too late and the game is ultra-futuristic.. how about future cops? Like in the game G-Police. There's nothing cooler than cops on jet-packs and other floating things..

Keep us updated!!!

So God does exist!
I've been praying for this game to get a redo for a long time.

I've seen some gameplay movies on youtube and i must say i got some mixed feelings about it.
Altho it really looks good and it has got the right atmosphere, i'm quite worried about the effect the 3th person view will have on the game.

What made the original so great imo was the cockpit view with all the little screens and displays. This really made you feel like you were in a supersonic warcar, and made you stress whenever you got a warning signal.

And i didn't see any ram spikes/rims in the clips, are the going to be featured in the game?

Also are the shop, bountyhunter and pitstop components making it into the game?
These are the things that made Deathtrack so special.

The visuals look great tho so thumbs up for that.

Anyway i'm glad to see this game getting renewed with the technology of today.
for people curious about the original here is a clip:

Mayhski is right. A third look overview from behind the car will kill the atmosphere. it was amazing for every warning that you must have a look at all mirrors. where is this damn person who is chasing me?

i miss those spikes too. it was so funny when you started in the middle of the field that you could ram all others before you used the heavy guns.
saved a lot of ammo and if you run out of it. you could finish them by ramming them.

i hope this will be a really good remake of death track and not be like a kind of bad damn "MEGA RACE" (part 1 was ok, the rest was shit).

the game "have a nice day" was near to the old death track but the tracks wasn´t. hope you take a good look on the old tracks. they were fine. every track were good to use short and long range weapons.
caltrops, mines were dropped in the curves. laser, beams, rockets, gun mostly straight parts or from higher points in curves.

flatout, P.O.D. was nice but i missed the weapons.

video looks ok. presentation like megarace. moveable weapons (guns) kill the fun. guns and every weapon like laser, gun, etc. should be fix. so nice steering is necessary.
this is racing and no deer hunting.

There are mirrors in the game, and there is a first person view, but it's made in a way like you are watching from the bumper.

Wow, here I was explaining to some 'GT5' excited kids how those simple driving games could never get close to the excitement of the old Death Track game, and how I wished they made a sequel. Then I google it and found the great news!
So, taking it from there, I would say that yeah, 1st person view is a must, DT was all about the immersion of you being behind the wheel, not about watching some dude driving a car. Basically, there would be nothing wrong with just taking the old game and just remake it to today's standards (3d, sound, online multiplayer). You can leave the changing of stuff for add-ons and mods

I totally agree, the orginal was a great game that stands out above other car games because of its cockpit view and game play. It has to be like the original game with spikes, mines, caltrops, missiles and lots of weapons that you can buy and upgrade the car with better sheilds. Also the money for taking out other players was great as it added another aspect to the game.

Please dont make a boring car game as there are way too many need for speed style games, but none have the weapons and the fixing of your car inbetween races and upgrading engines and weapons.

A re make of the orginal with online matches and the ability to offer money to other players to take out another player with even more options and weapons to purchase would make this sequel an awesome game with the graphics engine that you guys are showing in the video previews.

The game also allowed you to dodge missile if you braked quickly enough and you could repair your car mid race if you could make it to the pitts before being blown up.

It is sad to see your appearing to take the game into a 'stunt' style game with getting points for doing tricks in mid air and not taking the fighting parts of the game further in a driver cockpit veiw game. I would not buy a stunt car game, but you have my purchase if you follow the cockpitt style game, switching to a rear veiw is good to see how much damage your car has but it was not as fun to play it that way.

Downloading the Demo of the game to try out.

Will the Final Retail Release of the game have:

- Horn in the game (SP and MP) ?

- Spilt Screen Support on PC (Windows or Linux) ?

- OpenGL API support on PC (Windows or Linux) ?

- Will the game work on Windows 2000 PRO Operating System ?

- Will their be a Linux and Mac edition of the game ?

- Will the game need PixelShader 2 and above ?

- Will the game have LAN Multiplayer support ?

- Will the game have LAN Multiplayer with EIGHT
or MORE players ?

- Will the game have text chat in LAN Multiplayer ?

- Will the game have a Server browser with PING in the listing
and Bookmark servers choice so you dont have to re list the
entire worlds servers just play the bookmarked ones?

- Will their be a FREE seperate StandAlone Dedicated Server
program for LAN Party Admins/Server Admins/Clans to host
their own game server ?

- Will the game have the function to choose to disable
Reflections , Bloom , Blur ?

- Will you be able to choose when installing the game
NOT to install MUSIC onto the hard drive ?

- Will there be an option to disable playing MUSIC
instead of just setting the volume to zero ?

- Will there be an option to SPAWN install the game
onto another PC using ONE Disc ?
Spawn install method was with NFS2SE and Diablo1
you installed the game off a persons disk
no serial needed, online didnt work , single player didnt work
you only could join a server crated on the LAN by a person
using a disc . Great way to try the game and if you liked
it bought your own copy on disc .

- Will the game be coming out on consoles as well as PC ?

- Will the game come out on PC first ?

- If its coming out on consoles will it be on
PS2 and Wii ?

- If its out on console and PC will PS2 and PC

Please dont limit the game on the PC to only using
MS xbox360 controller on the PC

- Will the game on PC come out at the same EXTACT

that the game comes out in Asia , AU/NZ , Euro , UK , USA ?

- Will you be able to buy the game online via digital download
(not steam) cheaper then buying in a retail store with a disc
and without IGA

- Will the game on PC (Windows) have IGA ?
(In Game Ads)

- If the game does have IGA then will it LOWER the
Retail cost of the game ? No point using IGA if its
going to keep it at a high common retail price .

- Will the PC edition (Windows/Linux) work on the
Asus EEE 1000 with the new Intel Atom CPU ?

After trying the demo here are my suggestions:

Dont use Starforce or any 'Game Protection' systems that hide
and do bad things like Spyware/Adware.
I wish this game Demo would WARN the user before it infected
my system with Starforce (frontline protect.exe).
Why you need a Disc protection system for a DEMO (no disc)
does NOT make sense .

Steering needs improvement , it seems VERY slow when trying to steer
left and right when using Keyboard .

Auto Target with guns , its a good idea but the Auto Target system
does NOT auto aim on the mines that are on the ground .
The game needs a way to SHOOT the mines on the ground .
Also an way of using the MOUSE to control the gun turret manualy
or a second person controlling the gun would be nice.

Loading the game seems slow maybe since you only use on 800 meg
data file that I am guessing needs to decompress everything before
loading ( media.rr )

Profile didn't save . Might be since I ALT F4 out of the game instead
of going to the menu , it should SAVE IT before loading the level
Preferred the game to save Profile and save games in the GAME PATH
not OS/Documents and Settings folder

Colors everything seems very dark . I hope other tracks will be more BRIGHT
and more visible with a better range of colors

Any way of sheild / anti missle system so you can block attacks ?
(Flares maybe)

Besides that everything looks good , it would of been nice to have a gun
with unlimited bullets or a system that if you blow up others cars
it earns more bullets .

Things I look for in a lot of games that help me choose if im going
to support the game

- DRM or Disc protection that is the same as spyware - no buy
- No Multiplayer LAN - no buy
- More expensive in AU then USA - no buy
- Buggy game without decent testing - no buy
- Lack of SADS - No point playing online
