Default Solved: Lame menu music

Hello,

I haven't posted here in a long while. I've been messing about with CLoD and I'm enjoying the latest patch quite a bit. I've also found out a neat fix for those of you who (like me) are annoyed at the LAME menu music. I'm sorry if this has been posted before...

Instructions:
1) Find some awesome music for your menus ( 1 British and 1 German march for example)
2) Use a program like Format Factory to convert said music files to .ogg format.
3) Rename your new .oggs to background_gb.ogg (for the British march) and background_de.ogg for the awesome German march
4)right-click on these files, select properties and tick the "read-only" boxes
5)copy these two files (overwriting originals) to
Drive:\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\music
and
C:\Users\You\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\music

...and presto! Lame menu music is replaced with awesomeness.

Also, you can convert any number of additional songs of any size to .ogg format and put them in the steam music folder (You don't have to put these in the documents folder) and they will get played randomly in the in-game menu. You just have to replace the background_xx files to eliminate the lame defaults.

Be advised that any time you verify files (such as for a future patch) the background_xx files will be overwritten with defaults so keep backups of your altered background_xx.ogg files.

Cheers,

Fafnir_6

Glad to see this post. I dislike the synthetic music and want to permanently remove the oggs but they pop back each time I start CoD. I converted favorite mp3 to ogg WW2 LW music and Prussian Marches so placed them in music folder. I have a vast collection of German marches.

more important than adding more music (wich shouldn't be any new theses days) is not to change the music while navigaiting through the menus or even let the music play when entering multiplayer client menu.
