Question why did I lose control settings, gun settings etc?

why did I lose control settings, gun settings etc., I have not run a patch lately, and fly often, I also use TF4.0. if that make a difference. I lost my gun settings for each gun on many aircraft.. it lost the control profiles for many aircraft... I should be able to load previous settings.. that I saved, but sometime they don't who up. something is totally porked in CLOD...

Happens to me fairly often too. It might have something to do with the Alt-X key combo to quit the game instantly. I haven't had the problem since I stopped doing that.

Dont are not "broken" with settings - is need undestand how this work:

Your personal adjusts are save in ."ini" files on folder:

...\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\

If you manualy backup this files - for another folder - when make adjusts you never
will lose your settings.

Lose settings happen because:

Games files are stored in

...\STEAM\SteamApps\comon\il-2 Sturmovk Cliffs of Dover\

In this folder are a set of ".ini" created on game instalation day, AND, of course, dont have your personal settings changes. (1)

If for some reason you delete the ".ini" in ...\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover - MOD\ the game automaticaly make a copy from \StemApps\... obivously withou your last changes in preferences.

And, if you have STEAM CLOUD enable for il-2'CloD you preferences are stored in CLOUD and should reflect your last adjustes.

But, if you start the game outside STEAM GUI (e.g. clicking on Laucher.exe), do some adjusts e leave the game, or game crash, the lastest adjusts are not save on STEAM CLOUD, and eventualy STEAM CLOUD download the last adjust stored, that dont reflect your changes...

Notice that if you already use STEAM CLOUD, disable then now cause you lose settings, because they are store in STEAM.

One should by choince use or not STEAM CLOUD before start adjust thigs.

I choose dont use, and eventually backup my ".ini" and never "lost" settings (graphical, loadouts, convergence, etc).

(1) If you are happy with your actual settings, copy the .ini in 1C Soft Club... Dover\ for SteamApps..Dover\ so they are no more settings of a year or more (totally useless).

Accept self ignorance, it's always been easier to just blame the game, and her creators
