Default Crashes when I try to go through the first tutorial door

Pretty much what it sounds like. At first I got a weird DirectX error that I couldn't find the answer too, but I solved it by I think disabling shadows? I tried a lot of stuff, so it wasn't clear what worked.

Now I can do the dialogue with the trainer, but when I go through the door to deal with the dragon like he says, I get a black screen in whatever area it is, except for the HUD, and then it crashes. Gives me this error:

I have Windows 7. My processor's an AMD Turion 64, which is a 2.20 ghz single core, and my card's a GeForce Go 6100. Low power, yeah, but I'm not sure that's the issue here. Any possible solutions would be appreciated.
