Question about editing key mapping

Coming from DCS, I've had the ability to edit the lua files that dictate the switchology for my simpit. Is there a way to do this in IL2? Mainly I'd like to have a gear up and gear down command as my pit has a gear handle with 2 buttons built into it.

There is only one command for an automatic gear raise in IL-2. You use the same key to raise and lower the gear.

There are two commands for manual gear up and gear down which must have joystick or keyboard commands bound to them so you can raise and lower the Wildcat and I-16 landing gear. Unfortunately you can't "trick" the game into using these two commands instead of the single command.
