Default Invalid CD-Key MoW

Some time back i bought Men of War: Ultimate Collection, so that i could play the game singelplayer style, and my friend just bought MoW:AS on steam....
I then found out that i needed to update the game because we couldn't play.

Now that i have patched it up, it asks for a CD-key when i start the game up?
When i type in the CD-Key all it says is:
"Activation Failed

Activation process has been terminated

The serial number was not found in the database. Most likely the serial number has been entered incorrectly."
I have tried several times now. All with the same answer
(steam wont accept the key either.)

And... i have search a little more here on the here forum, and found some help full topics where, where you say if it NOT a steam version you should use the goty patch... put when i use these it just says:
"The game data is corrupt!
Update is not possible!"

but when i use the normal patches the updating works just fine and the problem with the CD-Key comes?
