And in any case 1C doesn't have plans to release any driving simulator on PS3.

Whoa nike it... I hate to make you look bad here, and please don't get upset at all.. but according to many many topics.. you are wrong sir.

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – May 6, 2008 – Avalon Style Entertainment, one of Russia’s leading developers of interactive entertainment, today announced that it has licensed Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 to develop the latest installment in its popular 4x4 Off Road off-road driving simulation series for PC, Xbox 360™ and PLAYSTATION®3. 4x4 Off Road III (international title, Off Road Drive), will be published by 1C Company, a top Eastern and Central European publisher.

Avalon Style Entertainment is one of the first Russian game studios to license Unreal Engine 3 for cross-platform computer and video game development. While previous releases in its 4x4 Off Road racing franchise utilized the company’s proprietary racing technology, the development team was convinced to license Unreal Engine 3 after first-hand experience with its comprehensive infrastructure and tools.

“Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 is at the forefront of multiplatform game development,” said Vyacheslav Gordeyev, CEO of Avalon Style. “The technology has been successfully used in many critically acclaimed titles, and we feel fully armed to make the first off-road driving simulator on Unreal Engine 3 thanks to its built-in vehicle support, powerful PhysX system, and many other leading edge features.”

“We’re excited to see Avalon Style combine their background in making realistic off-road driving experiences with our Unreal Engine 3 technology,” said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. “More and more of our licensees are proving that Unreal Engine 3 is not only a great cross-platform engine but also that it can be deployed across multiple genres. This is yet another example of that, and we’re eager to see this game’s release.”

Avalon Style approaches the development of off-road driving games from the perspective of the real-life sport. In “4x4 Off Road III,” there will be realistic off-road tuning with the ability to modify parts. Driving will often require the use of gear such as winches, car jacks, air compressors, differential locks, and more. What will set it apart from other contemporary four-wheel driving games will be the presence of trial-based races in which players will use problem-solving skills to traverse gaping mud puddles and scale massive heaps of rocks. Avalon Style developed and extensively tested this innovative gameplay mechanic in previous installments of the series, and expects the technologies within Unreal Engine 3 to help achieve an immersive racing experience.

There is the official news feed from Epic Games. And Below is describing how Avalon Style Entertainment has Acquired 1c-company.

Major Eastern European publisher and developer 1C Company has announced the acquisition of 4х4 Hummer developer Avalon Style Entertainment, with the Unreal Engine 3-licensing offroad racing creator now renamed as 1C-Avalon.

1C Company (Space Rangers, IL-2 Sturmovik) has been expanding notably in recent years, most recently acquiring publisher Buka, which has worked with companies such as Ubisoft, Valve, Codemasters, and THQ to publish their product in Russian territories.

Gamasutra also recently interviewed 1C sales director Nikolay Baryshnikov about the company's plans to get into the console space, which Avalon Style also plans to do.

Overall, the Russian developer is best known for their series of off-road racing titles, including such games as 4х4 Hummer and 4x4 UAZ. Thus far, however, it is a PC stalwart, having completed 13 projects to date.

According to the company, some unique selling points of upcoming 1C-Avalon games are the ability to "use problem-solving skills to traverse gaping mud puddles and scale massive heaps of rocks using winches, car jacks, air compressors, differential locks, and more."

"Our team, in its new status, will concentrate on developing games for both PC and popular consoles," said Vyacheslav Gordeev, Director of Avalon Style Entertainment. "By creating 1C-Avalon we will ensure tight integration and cooperation with a top, internationally known publisher."

Now, if nike is right, than all of this information must be wrong. Also, according to my information, 4x4 offroad 3 is to be released in the uk, but to be called offroad drive internationally. However, i have yet to find ANY information about the game other than this. but why exactly would they buy a license to make the game and go as far as they did, and stop? Who knows, i came to this forum for answers, but the administrator says they dont even know about it.

Long story short, If this information is correct still, Offroad drive does exist, and will be released for the ps3, xbox, and pc. When... im not sure, but like i said, according to this, it's being developed by what is now 1c-avalon on the new unreal engine.
