Default "Join Error" problem

Hi all,

Loving the game so far, but I have yet to get into a multiplayer match. Whether I'm responding to an invitation or just joining a regular game, I get the same result: "Join Error".

My net connection is fine and all other multiplayer games are working as normal (I'm on a PS3). Am I doing something stupid somewhere?

I'm in Ireland, if that makes any difference!

No, the rooms definitely aren't full. I tried hosting a few times but gave up after fifteen minutes when no one joined - maybe they can't see me? There's a circle with a line through it (like a "No Entry" sign) by my name in the player list when I try to host. That doesn't look too positive.

This is driving me nuts!

If you're waiting for the room to be full to start, people go look for another game.

It doesn't bother some people to play with only one opponent.

The round crossed sign (is it good english ?) means you don't have microphone.

Oh, didn't realise that was just a microphone status symbol; thanks for that. Just to be clear, I never even get into a room. I click on a game, nothing happens for a moment and then ... "Join Error".

It would help if the message was a little more detailed! I can't for the life of me think what could be wrong ...

sounds to me like you just get there too late, and the game started by time you clicked to join?

If you are using a router it might be blocking some ports needed to connect to other players. I don't know which ports the ps3 uses but you need to find out and make sure they are not getting blocked by the router. It wouldn't affect you as a host as you would not know that other people are getting a "join error" when trying to join you.

I'd suggest getting with Intifadah to see if you can join on each other.
If the majority of rooms at this point are in the US, then the game may not let you connect due to latency issues. Playing over long distances can cause network errors or issues.
