Locked/Fixed Direct control camera

Is there any way to mod, or bind a key to make the direct control camera fixed, as like a close third person view camera? Its gets annoying adjusting the camera angles while in direct control mode to shoot at what you want quickly. I drool over having this feature.

Needn't be that complex. Just a way for the camera to stay locked behind a unit. It would be as if you are holding down the middle mouse button in direct control mode but with the camera automatically following.
