game crash - theodosia the end game

I keep getting as far as the arrival of the armoured train and then the game freezes. I've tried the two patches but they don't work. The game is running from the dvd not the download version. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine is with the steam version though and happens right after I use artillery support.
