How can i create a dedicated server?
Hi all
I have an old computer that iam not using very often, and i figured that i could use it as a dedicated server for Il-2. I have tried downloading the 4.09 dedicated server patch and experimented a little with Server Commander, but for some reason i am not doing this right. It seems that i miss some important files, or i simply haven't innstalled everything correctly. So, is there some sort of step-by-step guide out there that can give me some directions, or perhaps someone here could tell me exactly which files i need and where to get them. I am using Windows XP and the Steam version of Il-2 with 4.09patch innstalled Thank you |

You can not just add the server patch to the client software.
To run a dedicated server you need the dedicated server software. It starts with version 2.04.Then you must add each server patch, one at a time all the way to 4.09.(and there are a bunch of them.Very tedious even if you can find all the patches) But all is not lost. There are some iso images out there of the complete server(or almost.Depending on when the iso was created). You might have to tweak some ini or config settings to your situation.(some iso images are images of other people's servers with their settings) As I recall there was a dedicated server thread(huge) over at Ub*. The server files may be over at Mission4*****. Remember Google is your friend."1946 dedicated server" comes to mind. |
