in chapter 2 i cant pick up the stick of dynamite that is sitting o0n the pile of rumble

Welcome, flucka. The red glowing image is to show you where to put the dynamite, which is hidden elsewhere in the area. If you get really stuck, try Blood and my NVN Guide.
