Default Is Disciples 3 alreaday out?

Is Disciples 3 alreaday out but only in Russian? This is like Armored Princess when it releases in Russian language first before the English version.

It would be fun to compare these two strategy games. Russians make very good turn-based strategy games like Armored Princess and Disciples 3.

I did compare them - a russian friend of mine bought D3 and let me play for a while. King's bounty outweighs Disciples big time.

First of all, Disciples is wickedly unstable - at least 1 crash every hour. King's Bounty is very stable.
King's Bounty has minimal amount of bugs (even the russian version) - Disciples 3 is full of them. Abilities stop working, bonuses left unchecked by the game, hitpoints go way over the quota, and whatnot.
King's Bounty provides extremely interesting strategic battles where each move and each unit count. In Disciples 3 "He who controls the concentration spots wins the battle". Concentration spots are cells on the battlefield that let you deal double damage as long as a specific unit (melee, ranged, caster) stands on it.
King's bounty has over 50 units. In Disciples 3 there are no more than 40 (if you count the upgrades of the units, they are more than 50 as well).

So far it's safe to say that Disciples 3 is one great blunder. I agree that the game is beautiful, the unit images are very pretty, the units are well textured as well, but having the game crash every 5-6 battles (for various reasons) or so takes the fun out of it. Just read the russian forums about it... If I recall correctly, right now there is a mini "competition" who managed to play the most without a crash. So far one guy leads with 5 hours or so.

Akella and .dat have a lot of work to do to fix all the game irregularities they made. Right now Disciples 3 is by no means a worthy successor to Disciples 2.

Thanks for the input.

Well, I guess we will have to wait for the final English version to come out to see if the bugs have been fixed and the games to be improved.

I am not sure when we English speakers will be able to play this game. It says that the release date is Q1 of 2010 without being more specific.

I am confident it will take awhile longer. In my opinion, it will be in Q2 2010. There are simply way too many bugs for the developers to work out in the russian version before launching a decent english version...

Just don't misunderstand me - I did have fun playing it (for the short time I was able to), and I really enjoyed the graphics, the units and the races (sadly there are only 3 races now... should have been 5)

However, in the current state of affairs, King's Bounty takes the cake big time against Disciples 3

It was on my watch list (and most likely buy list), but now I will not touch it without some serious redemtionstyle patches. I have read several places that the game is extremely buggy. I might pick it up on sale some time in the future when (if) it has been patched to playable level. Too bad really. I want all strategy games to succeed.

I can say the same I'm a big fan of the Disciples title (starting from Disciples 1: Sacred Lands quite some time ago) - those games always had flair, interesting story, very cool units with wonderful animations, great music - everything that a player can desire to have all kinds of fun.

I had the opportunity to play through the empire campaign for a while and it was one great big escort quest. You gotta get some chick (she's an angel underneath, ok, ok!) to some altars while enemies are trying to stop you. Is she truly an angel though? Why do I get the feeling that we were doing the same with Uther in Disciples 2? So much for the interesting story...

As for the cool units, they're there - you can zoom in the camera to check out every detail of the units, there are various camera styles that will let you enjoy the combat to the fullest. No doubt they did some mighty fine piece of work there. Animations are good as well. Music's great too.

What ticked me off the most (I think) was the fact that if you're in full screen and you have to alt-tab out of the game (for example, like me - your cousin just sent you a message on skype), when you maximize the window, the game hangs - you can hear the clicking, but the screen is black and there is no way to fix it, except ctrl-alt-del, task manager, end or kill process (directly), swear a couple of times and go back into the game to do whatever you failed to save

Disciples 3 as it is requires a save before each battle, and at least once a turn to be on the safe side

As such, I strongly recommend that we stick to KBTL and KBAP that provide a very decent amount of fun until they make Disciples 3 somewhat playable.
