Default No Hero in battles with "King's Bounty" for mac

I've downloaded "King's Bounty" (Legend and Princess) from Steam on my iMac.
After the training (in both games) when I enter a battle the Hero is not there, just the followers. Anyone else having this problem?

(I've shut off the iMac and restarted the computer and Steam ... no change).

Huh? The hero doesn't participate in battle if that's what you mean, he or she can only cast spells and use special abilities. Only his or her troops fight on the battlefield.

Default No Hero in battles?

So the Hero doesn't participate in battles? They do in the training portions of the game; they are there with their troops. In the rest of the game this isn't the case?

Are you sure? In battle you have only the portrait of your hero in the upper left and his mana amount, only units are on the battleground. Hero can cast spells, but that's it. Maybe you've mistaken some unit like swordsmen for the hero?
