If only the buildup was like Oblivion.
People not even into flight sims would be foaming at the mouth for Cliffs of Dover.

Oblivion had the best marketing ever. I bet everyone with a PC knew about the game by March 2006. The anticipation was tangible!

Little did I know...

Look at Skyrim's (sequel to Oblivion) marketing, even now. It's not out until October but I'm already frothing at the mouth for it because of the amazing trailers, music and info over at Game Informer.

Now that is a trailer. Jeremy Soule has done the music for every ES game since Morrowind, and Birds of Prey as well. Hopefully Ubi will get him in to do the music for CoD. They even did a little translation puzzle of the language they are singing in on the trailer.

Yup! Hopefully they haven't spent all their voice acting money on him this time, like they did with Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean in the last one. I think I preferred the theme in its less deliberately epic form though:

Honestly, it would make so much difference if CoD had a theme as memorable and amazing as the Elder Scrolls theme. Especially notable considering Morrowind came out in 2002, and by comparison in Il-2 we have some godawful forgettable MIDI rumpety-pumpety military marches as the menu music.

Another memorable theme, for me at least, is the theme from Battlefield 1942.

Yes! Easily the best theme for any Second World War game. Hell, any war game.
