Corrupted Graphics with ATI/AA

I am a recent returnee to IL2. I have IL2/1946 with HSFX 6.0 installed. My system is as follows:
Intel i7 870 2.93GHz, Windows XP, 8GB RAM, ASUS EAH5870 w/1GB mem.

I have the latest 5870 ATI driver installed; 12.8 dated 28 June.

When I uncheck "Use application settings" for Anti-Aliasing in the Catalyst Control Center, I get corrupted graphics on the terrain, very noticeable around island.

This happens with HSFX and without the mod activated. Everything else looks great. If I check "Use application settings", I get a lot of jaggies.

I have edited my conf.ini as recommended on these boards, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? I've looked around the forum and others and can't figure out a fix.

Figured it out, thanks to a post I found on this board. Rolled back to 11.4 driver.
