Default Is there a 'right' way to exit after a mission?

Usually when I finish a sortie I press 'esc' as soon as I have come to a stop and got the 'Roblex has landed' or 'Roblex has returned to base' etc. The problem is that sometimes the stats record this as an 'Air Abandon' Last week I taxied to the hangars and switched off the engine and magnetos and opened the canopy and still got an 'Air Abandon' instead of 'Landed'

I see that some people press Ctl-F2 first then press 'Esc' , does it make a difference?

Roblex,

After hit ESC you do this (ignore Portuguese captions) before click in CREATE again?

I have never seen this question. After I press Esc I go to that screen but then I think I just click on the airfield (same as last time or different) and choose a plane )then maybe change plane or loadout) then hit 'Create' Perhaps this is what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
