We are probably beating this point to death but I really hope this holds true for the 360 version

Sounds like Microsoft might be an obstruction for you there. I hope not, but don't get your hopes up...

We may be the only people here with a Sidewinder stick.
Awww. Shame as I love that stick. Thanks for trying it out for me.

I too have the Sidewinder; it's the ffb precision pro model & no, the throttle doesn't work.

Also have the PS3/PC thrustmaster hotas & can't get the hatswitch to accept axis settings for view panning (i guess because the hatswitch is a series of switches as opposed to axis) & so the only option for me on SIM (for an unrestricted freelook viewing motion & a zoom) is once again the gamepad & my frustration is paramount in that the only switch that has issues on SIM is the zoom mapping, & worse still, it will work on the 2 other modes I never play, lol!!!
Sure hope it can be sorted. I've tried the otherwise ok, default 3 map & viewing the outside world & zooming a chosen spot whilst flying is near impossible. Sure gives the fingers a yoga-style workout. Copying the default 3 map & being able to map the zoom onto the L3 on SIM mode would be the answer.

Can you not use a USB mouse to free look with a flight stick?

Kinda defeats the object of enjoying a flightsim on a console & couch when you have to sit up at a surface to use a mouse but thanks for the idea. Will def. give it a go!

I managed to customize the control layout of my dreams However, I dont know why my plane spins out so easily even when I have sensibility set to "0".

Has anyone solved this?

Uhhh...the P-51 is NOT the best dogfighter of WWII. Hate to burst your bubble but the P-51's main role was high altitude long range bomber escort. Under 5,000 feet, which is where most of the combat takes place in BoP, there are PLENTY of planes that should be dominating the P-51. It definitely needed a fix, for sure, but I don't know about the "best plane in the game".

I said this in a previous post. I made a custom layout and when I was flying the P-51 it was hard to control and kept stalling out like it was before the patch came out. I paused the game and went back to default 3 and it flew fine.
