is it stand-alone? can you please give me the complete list of playable factions?

Yes is stand-alone.

The factions are many but if you want a subdivision for units typology, these important are the cultural area subdivision: western, rus, moors, and mongol (or at least this is in Death or Glory and I suppose the will be the same with Blood of Europe).

is it possible to mod the game? i know Blood of Europe has not released yet, but what about Death or Glory?
