n00b needs help: few performance diff. between low and high
My specs are in signature: usually i make 40 fps on the channel and 26 on ground, with stuttering ecc.
With settings in VERY LOW ,shadows, trees and buildings off,i don't notice any important difference: 50 on water and 34-30 on ground, stuttering always present (sometimes less, sometimes more. FPS number very confusing: it goes from 30 to 11). It's not a complaining/rant. I tried everything (ini, epilepsy filter thing, aero thing ecc.). People and friends with worse pc than mine make 70 fps on water on high. I have the impression that i've missed something ? PC specs too low ? |

Do you have 1gb vram at least? You will have stutters till you overclock to at least 3.5 Ghz imho 2.8 is slooooow to process all the load. Buy a good cooling system and do it.
Try my settings and a link in my sig first though. Last edited by Ataros; 04-09-2011 at 12:03 PM. |

I would suggest, don't look at the raw numbers. A game can be smooth and enjoyable at 15FPS, or sluggish and stutterish at 50... I mean FPS is one indicator, not a goal. Your goal should be a smooth playable game, regardless of FPS.
That being said, the problem may be the video RAM on your card. I have 460GSX with 2GB of memory and my game is playable at medium settings (except trees and buildings, low) FPS can vary from 14/17FPS parked on the ground, up to some 40+ FPS flying over the ocean. Flying low over land it usually goes up and down between 16 and 25. Some would say that those numbers are low (they are, the cause is Triple Head) but I find my game smooth and enjoyable, so I guess 16/25FPS can be good enough, at least on some systems. What im trying to say is don't look at the FPS... at least don't look *only* at that, but focus on smoothness and playability instead. |
