TOW1 Mission Editor Non Responsive After Loading Mission

Recently when I open a mission file in the editor the whole thing freezes and becomes non responsive. I have the game thru steam and have used the editor in the past a lot. There is no error message just freezes. I have re-installed the game 3 times and no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.
