PC Pilot magazine uses words like "jaw-dropping" "the new bar for combat flight simulation" "blew our socks off" to describe A-10 in their Platinum Award assessment of A-10. Didn't hear that type of thing in their very kind assessment of CloD. As for damage modelling in A-10. Superb. Every bullet hole etc. Its a joke to excuse all that is wrong with CloD as a result of its amazingness, when clearly a superior sim like A-10 did not do so. This might be a great WW2 sim that is a lot of fun if they finish it, and I sincerely hope they do. It is not and will not be the greatest sim ever, but who cares. Right now its a botch up and I look forward to the finished product in all its glory. Go here, lowest score is 9.0 http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/dc...g/user-reviews And to stay on topic, these drivers don't help LOL. ![]() Last edited by connie; 08-11-2011 at 04:38 PM. |

I keep seeing a trend from new people joining these forums to troll talking about other games. I'm assuming it's because the games they like have noone playing them? And back on topic: The drivers do work great if you do what I said. |

So Connie, do you LIKE A-10? LOL
It's really too bad that Ubisoft/1C: Maddox Games didn't follow Eagle Dynamic's formula of doing an early paid-for beta release. With all the troubles my system was having at onset, I wasn't angered - just concerned. After all, EA was very upfront about it being a beta release AND they would be continuing work on optimizing. Communication is key, and EA held up their end and delivered. As I mentioned. A-10 eventually did (and still does) run very well on my system. You don't have to sell me on it! ![]() However, as with many in this CoD forum, WW2 sims are my thing; especially Battle of Britain. Most of the superlative sophisticated features of A-10 are lost on me, so at a gut having-fun level CoD will, hopefully, become THE best sim for me. |

Just a friendly heads-up. Comparisons, argumentation and tangential discussions are ok as long as:
1) The original thread is not dragged off-topic 2) It's not done to gain leverage in "point-scoring" matches 3) People remain open to different opinions and don't try to pass theirs as absolute fact over everyone else's To cut a long story short, if this is pulled off-topic and turns into a slagging match i'll be moving the relevant posts to the arguments and speculation megathread, along with any posts that quote or answer them directly in order to completely prune the inflammatory material off the thread. Argue your point, but remain respectful of the OP's intention in creating the thread (ie, he wanted to discuss the new driver's use in relation to CoD), take some time to use proper language and try not to bait, provoke, or offend other posters. If one is offended by different opinions and interpretations of known facts to the point that one feels compelled to answer back in a provocative or otherwise non-constructive manner, then open internet forums are not a good place for one to frequent. My job is to ensure everyone can have their say, as long as their say is not out of tune with the scope and purposes of this community and forum and not attacking the opinions of others or limiting their ability to express their opinion, in which case i'm forced to intervene. And i will. |

Doesn't make SLI work on my SLI machine. At this point, CloD works better on my single card machine. Monitoring shows only one core working and of course 100% video memory. SLI uses only one cards memory anyway, so SLI is a detriment at this point for CloD, because it uses so much video memory. A single card with 1.5GB is better than 2 in SLI with 1.0 GB each.

Then you're not doing something right. AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) means that one card will draw even frames while one card will draw odd frame. Some games do this by splitting the screen in 1/2, others by drawing certain aspects while the other card handles the rest. Obviously, without a real profile for IL2COD it's not scaling to it's full potential. It is indeed scaling though, and I get a 10FPS average increase on the black death track on max gfx settings with this setup. I've also gone from 50ish with one card to 80-100 FPS online with SLI on. If AFR is enabled you will never have a situation where one card is doing 100% and another 10%. With AFR enabled both cards should output almost equally. Mine stay around 70% usage.
It's only when I use Nvidia's recommended SLI settings (not the settings I said to use) that one card does 100% and the other 10%. |

Thread cleanup performed, relevant posts moved to the arguments and speculations megathread in the pilot's lounge section. The following apply to all, not just you: Don't act like one person's version of the story somehow carries more weight than the rest. CoD ran fine for me after the first patch and does so for many people, others still have problems. Same with A-10, some people had issues during the beta and some had less of them. Not everyone had the same experience as you did and it's statistically impossible for all of them to be liars on a "fanboy" mission, just like it's statistically impossible for everyone who faces problems with CoD to be a liar on a "whiner" mission. Same applies for facts, different interpretations of the same one can exist: depending on what aspect of gameplay is more important to each person, they might be more, less or completely not annoyed with certain issues, depending on their general mentality their speculation on why the release was handled such and such or how/if/when the sim gets adequately patched will also differ. Let's not be narrow-minded here and strive for the impossibility of absolute uniformity, shall we? There are a lot of valid and useful ways to express criticism and propose changes. Venting is not one of them and drags other posters down into similar behavior. And then i take my bulldozers and shovels and move all the rubble here: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25051 so that the people who are actually interested in the original topic of the thread can have a civil discussion like normal people talking about a hobby, without having their eyes bleed in the process due to reading the same things taking place among the same people over and over again. ![]() |
