I'd prefer to get laid more often, but I have learned the constant whining about it isn't going to make that happen.

I am a computer illiterate (born before television and the transistor) so I want a game that is easy to understand. I have been watching the arguments about COD with great interest because I really want it. I was a kid in Kent in the UK and saw the BOB taking place right above my head. However after reading the comments on here I have decided not to rush into purchase what appears to be a faulty product. I appreciate it will be fixed but I'm sure there are many like me who are prepared to wait and see. Pity because for the reasons above I really want this sim.

Yes, I'd agree if you don't know a lot about PCs and don't have any hard investment in the game or even emotional investment you should undoubtedly wait.

Right now the game has problems that you need some experience with PC software modification to deal with. I'd say for all but the most experienced and emotionally invested individuals you should wait at least 6 months before you check back in on getting the game.

That is an amazing experience that you have and I really wished this game was currently optimized that you might in some way be able to feel you had some non observer part to play. I'd love to hear more about your real life experience of the Battle for Britain.

This is possibly a reality we must come to terms with in the high fidelity combat sim world. Our sims aren't going to be flawless upon release. Black Shark was much better on release than A-10C, but A-10C was far more complicated = more problems. They've sorted a bunch just like they'll sort this.

Not that i condone anything per say, but if the future of this sim required it to be released now to capture back some of the initial investment...so be it. A little money bank in the bank can do a lot more development good than not.

If Call of Duty can have launch PC problems with that cut and paste over simplified template, than it's no surprise a sim like CLoD can have some problems as well.

The sim isn't even fully released globally yet.

You're forgetting one huge aspect to all of this. The banana forums like making mountains out of mole hills, and comparing apples to oranges/fermented fruits.

I think it is upsetting that it was released in such a unpolished state, but I also think that money was likely the biggest determining factor. I can forgive the developers for releasing it as such as long as they support and continue to patch it. If they fail to do that I will lose my faith in 1C Maddox, but I see that as an unlikely outcome.

Kikuchiyo, my experiences also covered the Blitz, the V1's and the V2's. Being a kid in WWII in London was an interesting time. I could PM you or put it on the forum if yoiu think it would be of help
Thanks for your advice on COD. Looks like I stay with ROF for the moment. I used to fly a Tiger Moth so ROF holds my interest.

Despite my better judgement, I went ahead and got it through steam. I am a long term fanboi of IL2. When that came out, I felt it was a quantum leap from what had gone before. That is not the case with IL2COD. I dont want to throw petrol on some of the flaming that has been going on. However, some of those doing the complaining have some very valid points. I was sitting on the fence, taking a wait and see, the glass is half full approach, the developers know their business, they will support it going forward, we need developers for flight sims, etc etc etc. My first impressions have left me cold. Gee the sea looks nice. And thats about it. I am not going to complain about FPS, its been said before, you know all the stuff. I just did not get any sense of flying these iconic aircraft. I get that in IL2 4.10. I will be semi retiring from IL2 COD. It'll stay on my hard drive and I will periodically check in. If and when its "ready" (note I did not say finished, no such beast in software) If you are sitting on the fence. Stay there. Dont take the middle ground. You'll just be hit from both sides! Let it go. I wish the developers well, but I have to say, we can only speculate as to whats really under the hood with this sim. And why it was released in the state it is in.

the way i see it, ive invested in the future of this sim, and you haters who want your money back..

If you get a refund cause things aint working as of now, your contributing to dooming the game`s future and being stuck with it as it is now.

dont hate the game and help to kill it, if your a ww2 sim fan, remember silent hunter 5. great possibilities, and also a decent game without mods, but got terminated due to forum haters who didnt have the time to wait for it to evolve

Hi everyone, new to this forum but long time IL2 player...

OK, I have a very very hard time accepting your argument.

I bought IL2 on the DAY it came out, played campaigns and online almost every week. When the game came out it had performance issues because it required horsepower. Personally, I never noticed ANY improvements on MY rig with patches. None. After upgrading my system it worked fine.

Now, here is my rig:
Quad-Core 9650 at 2.30
4GB
ATI 5790 1GB DDR5

This is not an optimal system BUT with everything turned down low, I get insane stuttering even at 1280x720. I crank everything on HIGH with 1920x1080 and I get the SAME thing, there is litterary NO DIFFERENCE in performance.

So I started experimenting, all settings high and 1920x1080 and deducted settings one by one.

I still get the same experience when I end up on the low end with very low and 1920x1080.

Sorry, there is something fundamentally wrong here when this game simply plays the same on any type of setting on my rig. I guess it is my rig but the fact that I can run games that use much more CPU power like FSX on all settings high in DX10 with max sliders except ground shadows then I guess this game simply does not like my rig. Fine.

My clanmate just built a 3000 dollar rig because he races proffessionally on on-line racing leagues and flyghtsims. He gets the pretty much the same issues that I get:

Buildings popping, terrain popping, stuttering on a SDD harddrive and SLI enabled even tried disabled.

So why is that?

The graphics in this game are not exactly amazing, the effects are, but the buildings, the ground and the grass is not groundbreaking in any way compared to like Rise of Flight.

It used to be that water effects were FPS killers. Now I fly perfectly fine on water but once I hit land it is a sutter and popping nightmare. My clan mate has the same issue.

Lets not entirely forgive somebody for having a game in development for 6 years who have previous experience with sims and is a leading developer in flightsims.

This game is sub par.

I knew that there were issues with this game but I knew that this developer is committed. Now with Olegs exit if you believe that this will be another IL-2 Sturmovik...I would not bet my money it.

Either way, this game has potential but it should simply have been an expansion instead, given that we who love IL-2 series would buy anything related to it. We are a small niche market but we are DEDICATED and ACTIVE.

I felt like they screwed the community with this release. We all watched in awe as this game ran terribly on my rig and on my clanmates super rig and the rest said "Thanks, but no thanks".

I wish I had been on the other end instead of buying something and then expect it to be "ready" in 6 months.

I will not support this type of marketing. You just alienated a clan of 50 people who play IL2 to this day.
