I'll await Aviar's reply.
The way I have read into it, you need to put two lines for the forest setting...

Extremely useful thread and thanks to every one for adding their comments to squeeze the best out of the game graphics.

And a big thanks to Oleg for his input and creating a fantastic SIM in IL2.....(but not for smoking my ass with a FW ......I assume he is the on-line player with the HL call sign 'OLeg Maddox'......)

Alpha has it dead right. Just tried this out, and forest=3 gives 3D trees in towns as most of us should be aware, but forest=4 seems to roughly double the quantity. Also the number of 3D trees in open country seems to go up.
This was a quick tryout though so can anyone verify?
Cheers.

Bit of a wild goose-chase for me. When I use the settings below, the first Forest=4 setting reverts back to Forest=3 as soon as I exit the game, with no difference at all in the trees while the config still says Forest=4 during game-play.

TexFlags.UseDither=1
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0

Same here, just checked. First one back to =3 and Bottom one stays at =4
Never mind! I can't see the woods for the trees anyway according to my missus!

Try right-clicking on the conf.ini file, select properties, then check the 'read only' box, then select 'ok' or 'apply'. I found this seems to make the settings stick.
