We'll see, the summer leading up to the launch should be decisive enough. The small community updates we have now is more a generous offer from Oleg than any official marketing strategy.
Would be nice to see it released this year , he is doing some really astonishing work, however it is after all a flight sim and that's where the engine, focus is centered around. It's all about narrowing it down, he can't make the most advanced game ever made.. that being a flight sim , sea sim , infantry sim , car sim , tank sim all in one is just unrealistic to believe both Engine-wise, Gameplay wise, Work-wise, Fun-Wise? Bug-Wise? etc it's insane to even comprehend how much work that would mean if even attempted seriously... and would it work out gameplay wise.. probably not... Just cause the engine supports people walking around / driving doesn't mean it's gonna be equivalent to an FPS like Red Orchestra or Armed Assault, it's not. Red Orchestra 2 Heroes of Stalingrad will be released sometime this Fall as well and should compensate BOB really well with it's infantry combat, can't wait for that either. All in all some folks seem to have insane expectations, for a flight-sim sure that's why we are all here and it's justified, but beyond that don't expect anything amazing.. Oleg isn't a magician with unlimited resources. Last edited by virre89; 04-14-2010 at 12:47 PM. |

My take on the target release date
When Oleg said SOW hoped to be released for the Battle of Britain anniversary, I automatically assumed he was talking about Battle of Britain day, which is September 15th (the make or break day during the battle, which was the Luftwaffes largest assault upon London itself. It was countered by 11 Groups 'Big Wings' of multiple squadrons, which had a severe effect upon Luftwaffe morale).
This date is also quite close to October, which makes it more likely as a target release date for Oleg. I personally can't wait for it!! BobTuck. |
