Squadrons can be full, bloated with a symbol of "im higher rank so im better attitude" i dont like that. A command structure isnt worth a hill of beans in he or she cant shoot for shit, or fly for that matter. People who have a rank assigned to them with some power behind it tend to have a big head. I have made a thread a few weeks back and have some friends from that post. My friends and I and i think a few on here are waiting until the game comes out to make a move. Im not bashing a well oil machine no matter how big. Im sayin for those who are getting pilots just to increase their numbers will be dissappointed when they find out they might just be cannon fodder
I will fly with anyone on here if they want to have fun, fly together, and kill together. For those who play the IL2 on PC know how great the personal reward is for saving a buddy who is close to getting shot down. Or the thrill of being vastly outnumbered and fighting for your life. i hope to make many friends and fly with many more

I think a lot of it has to do with the squadron. There are many units out there who are just looking for a power trip, but were not all like that.
The 86th has a policy: No drama...period. Anyone involved in drama will find themselves out on the curb. Unfortunately you can't forsee who will be a problem and who will not before a member joins, but it is up to the staff to recognize problems and deal with them swiftly. I've had a few troublemakers over the years, but they usually don't last very long.
Secondly, when you speak about those who don't fair well in the air, I think thats half the point of being in a squadron. The 86th has a flight training program run by our top scoring aces. It allows the nuggets to learn one on one from people who have been playing for years.

On a side note, we used to have a euro division. Problem was I couldn't find anyone to host the bi-weekly meetings or coordinate events. If there is enough interest, I would consider setting it up for you guys. All you would have to do is find an honest person to keep score.

Default To all my fellow pilots from across the pond...

To all my fellow pilots from across the pond, we here in the “colonies” just want to fly and have a good time. I know the time zone difference is quite large but I don’t see why we can’t be in the same squad, fly with each other in our own time zones and hopefully meet up with our European/American counterparts occasionally on week nights or weekends. We will have the benefit of a collective information base and a few laughs when we finally get to fly together. I also race a lot and I am in probably the most respected Car Club online, TRC and we have many members from Europe, which makes us a much better team. We are starting up a new squad and if you’re interested please see the first post for sign-up information with VF-224, the Diving Peregrines.

Cheers mate!

Default Change of Squadron Motto & Color...

Ok, as a heraldic artist, I can get to close to my work. I have removed the gold from the plane and used a gray with is probably more authentic. Also someone pointed out that the motto could be misconstrued as suicide, which is true, so I changed it to "Death Dealt By Speed".

Thanks for all the input and I'd be interested in what the critics of the "Clown Colored P-51" think of it now...

Cheers,

I didn't think of it either until someone mentioned it. Kind of like the colors; I work in Heraldry and the rule of the day is "High Contrast Basic" or "Clown" colors, lol. It had just never occured to me. One comment wouldn't have been enough, but after several, I decided to revisit it and look at other people's work in this field...

Default Artist's Bug...

Sorry I got to looking at real P-51s again and I noticed 2 things: 1. I like the D version best, so I had to change my artwork. 2. There are blue nose variants out there. Also I have the artist's bug that says a work is never finished, so I revised to a D version, changed the colors to "Black N' Blue" and since I had done that, I figured I'd change the motto 1 last time to "Blue Nose - Black Death" ...

P.S. Subaru, I'm sending a new file for you...
