The sound pack has been working great for a few weeks, but recently it occasionally does not play sounds like flaps, bullet strikes, or damage. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yep, I have.

Seems to be a rather random nature to his pack. First installed it, and only the bullet strike and bomb explosion sounds worked; everything else was default.

Cleared it out, and installed again.

Now some of the engines are new, while others are default, even among different planes that have the same engine. Bullet and bomb strikes are still new. Everything else is still default.

Cleared it out.

OK, I figured it out. The Allison engine sounds are not included in the link you posted on page 1. I downloaded it from the link on page 2, the Sendspace link, and they are in that one.

Really nice new sounds for online sounds toggled on/stock. Tried one flight and am duly impressed!! It sounds great! the Sim just got new again as I redo each of my missions!

Kudos to 69thvirtualfightergroup ~S

Make sure the folders reflect the same hierarchy as the original (empty) ones. Decompressed, the folders were a bit out of place and only some sounds were added.

Can you possibly elaborate a bit on this...maybe with some examples? I'm currently experimenting with Soundpack v5.0 and the folders seem correct to me.

I'm not entirely clear on it but does this work with stock 4.12?

I downloaded and installed on stock 4.12.2m (btw, can't detect any misplacement of folders; all patched sounds seem working) and I'm really impressed. Hooray for Steerpots and thanks to Monty_Thrud for hint!

Only one point to improve IMO: flyby sound with engine OFF should be like wind or so, I think.

Unfortunately, Steerpots' sound pack has same issue of Jiver's one; I mean there are some misnamed PRS files. As a consequence, they are unrecognized by game, which won't load relevant new sounds.

I applied same fix given earlier on this same thread by Gaunt and Artist, adding following further fixes:

M4 cannon (P-39)
M9 cannon (P-63)
N57 cannon (MiG9 I-300; +VYa23 cannon)
NS45 cannon (Yak 9K)
N37 (MiG9FS)

Probably, also Sh37 is faulty, but I was unable to find where it is mounted, as well as shVAKANTIMATTER, which looks to be deserved to Kohzedub.

Here're the windows' commandline lines (paste as rename.bat in the ".....\my_presets\sounds" directory and execute):
Code:
move weapon.MGunB20s.prs weapon.cannon_B20.prs
move weapon.MGunHispanoMKIs.prs weapon.cannon_HispanoMKI.prs

In addition, you should make a copy of:

MG_Browning50_1x.wav
MG_Browning50_1i.wav

and rename them respectively:

MG_Browning50x.wav
MG_Browning50.wav

and then drop in your "my_samples" folder.

Cheers,
