Default Is IL2 1946 still alive?

Hi all, im new here.

I recently bought IL2 Cliffs of Dover since my upgraded computer, hoping this new release would work ok, but like most of you I cant get the game to work decently (crashes, black screen, freezes, sometimes works sometims doesnt, my god! I cant even see the name of locations in the game map).

Any way, I kow I have a good enough computer to run this game, but for now im gonna wait some time, maybe a year or two untill this game is playable. It didnt hurt me to pay money for an unfinished piece of software, I see it as a donation for the hours of fun I had with IL2 1946.

Now, going back to my question, when I bought IL2 COD I inocently disposed to the trashbin my old IL2 1946, the dvd was scratch in anyway and I remebered I had a hard time last time I trie to install it hehehe. I've been looking in ebay and a new copy cost very cheap.

Is IL2 1946 still alive? is there still people playing it? are dedicated servers updatign their maps; last time I play it I remember there was no chages whatsoever to the maps, always same old maps and got kind of boring.

I seriously miss flying WW2 planes, and as an unconditional fan of IL2 series would like to go back to the skies.

A lot of squadrons are still flying IL-2 1946 and we're just 1 of the many.

Hey Moggy!, I look at your link, was that picture taken from BOB Memorial between Dover and Folkstone?, I live only few miles from it and looks very familiar.

you need to install CLEAN (stock) version of IL2 46 first, then, patch it with all official patches (4.08 up to 4.10.1), THEN install UP3 in the folder where you installed IL2. More info on the bottom of my post (see link).

Yes that's right, the picture was taken at Capel le Ferne but I can't remember which TP'er took the picture...pretty sure it was Prangster or Malc.
The Tangmere Pilots comprises 4 Hurricane squadrons (1, 43, 145 & 601) which were stationed at Tangmere at the start of the Battle of Britain on 10th July 1940. Co-incidentally our last meetup a few weeks ago was held at the fantastic Tangmere museum.

For me Il2 1946 died when I purchased Clodo. But after two weeks trying to play Cliffs of Dover, IL2 resurrected stronger than ever. Never before in the history of the sims had a new simulator made everybody loved their older sims (contrary to what usually happens: new games make old ones seem old-fashioned and obsolete). Long live IL2 1946

Yes, is still alive and always very active. As MP for example somedays, mainly at week-ends you find in Hyperlobby 250 to 300 players. And there are some good Servers, specially for me the UK servers with a nice combination of historical missions at differents theater of operations. Sometimes a good COOP mission is also available. Also the good old IL-2 is always active but few players there, the servers is Russian based and good time to go there is allround of 18.00 zulu or early. The new Ultrapack , I think is 3.01 was also available the last week.
