To cut thru the crap. The IL-2 series has served us well over the last 8 years, but now the community is looking for a new combat flight sim. OM has shown us he can develop a benchmark combat flight sim, so most of us see no reason he can't develop the next benchmark in WW2 simming. I've seen more evidence that SOW will be a benchmark sim than to the contrary.
There may be some competition hidden in the wings, but we have seen very little evidence it. Although there is evidence that KOTS a WW1 sim will stand with SOW and compliment it. It will be interesting to see if OFF 3 will finally turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. I'm not sure they have made enough improvements to compete with future combat flight sims. Although I will buy the product and check it out. The same goes for the Merlin engine, it is improving, but its painfully slow. Both sims will still have a faithfull, but small community. |
