What killed the maidens, you couldn't keep the spider stacks down? You need a reset if the big spider picks on them a lot, but I was able to kill all of the little spiders before they could act. And yeah you're not meant to lose a troll.

I should add I didn't come up with this (the method was posted in some other thread about the spider), but the adaption I used worked well.

We speak of impossible/no loss, else?
Impossible means: Spider boss will kill randomly 2-3 maidens. If you kill spider stacks then the next stacks are bigger and so on. Don't tell something like it's all so easy if you never have done it yourself.

Congrats !!!! That is giving me hope !!!!

I will try tonight, yeasterday I just went 17 fights ago (my last save) to get hilda's power. So I had to re-do 17 fights before going to the spider. And I could not finish the 17 fights before going to bed
For the rules :
- The 1 is logical, I already did not kill spiders !
- The 2 is also logical, that is why I did 17 fights again, because I stupidly used the Hilda ability 2 fights before the spider...
- The 3 I will do, but the thing is I do not have that leadership, I'm just lvl18, so I will never have the ability to have more than 5 trolls... Even with my +20% leadership, I cant go more than 5...
- The 4/5, I did it sometimes but the thing is I had also Jotun and Giant to heal, so it is tough to use the mana right at each turn (even with higher magic level 3 !)
- The 6, I plan to do the perfect fight and learn where the boss go, and redo it again as many times as necessary
- For the 7 and for the red circle, tx, I did not notice that and it is very smart

Raaaa, I have to wait for tonight, damn family with son and daughter.
I really love them, but I WANT TO KILL THAT SPIDER !!!!

I'm finally at the end of my 17 fights, have the inspiration of hilda ready, but I need an extra level before the spider fight.
So I upgrade my items.
Each fight won, I look at the Call Colossus result. Surprisingly, since I am in the spider cave, it is always Black dragon. It sucks for the spider combat... So I go out and try the Call Colossus again. Surprise ! It changes to Ogres !!!!

So, good to know : the randomization of call colossus spell changed from KB TL and AP : now, it is the place you are in the game that gives the troop !!!!
I'm now navigating through the map, looking for a Cyclop

And then, the spider is mine : NO LOSS POWER !

I'm in the same situation, with 3 trolls as viking, and i decided just to restart the game and hope for mana spring or rage eater or someothing like that.
I think it's impossible to beat it no loss without mana regen or other helpful means like phisical or poison resist gears or call colossus..

The best i could think of is arranging your trolls in such a way that the one that hit the boss only get retaliated but never attacked by the boss in the same turn so that you won't need stone skin. But still there is the problem with the increasing number of the little spiders and moving of the boss.

Edit: Is it possible to heal the cyclopes? I think thay were unhealble in the previous versions.

I think it is doable. Xev did it, that gives me hope. Did you try to have Cyclops ? succeeding in the quest of the zombie woman gives you a Call Colossus spell !!

I travel all other the map, the best unit I had is Archidemon, I think with 4 jotuns + 3 archdemons + 3 trolls + my 100 manas (I upgraded a few items) + a good combination in combat, it is doable.

Now, true, you are Viking, not Soothsayer... My 100 manas are useful, your 100 rages are no use in the spider combat...
This is the 4th time I restart the game in impossible to have a total no loss, I knew the Viking sucked after playing 10 hours as it. I almost succeeded as a Skald, but the necromancer is nearly doable and I did not have the good scrolls...

Good luck anyway... Restarting totally after 150 fights, it is tough, because 150 fights is very long. I would have waited 1 or 2 month myself before restarting, in order to have the "fire". Moreover, in 1 or 2 months, the Archdemon power bug will be (I hope) corrected.

Oh lol i didnt know that completing the zombie womam quest gives call colossus
I jumped on the spider before finishing all quests and mobs
Still is it possible to heal the cyclopes? Anyway i have 0 mana regen as viking and only 45+ mana i dont think it's enouth to beat him with such strategy.
I'll try though with 5-6 trolls, may be it will work.

In my 2 playthroughs, the zombie woman quest only gave me a... [drum roll] leather shield.

I'm not sure how I got my Call Colossus scroll though. I "think" I found it in combat (that's the only way you can find an item that you wouldn't normally spot with the scanner).

Not to mention, I don't think you can get Wanderer scrolls besides getting a duplicate map (which happens after the 4 viking islands I think?) or in combat (get those chests and hope for a wanderer scroll!).

Viking/Warrior doesn't suck. It is a much harder beginning though since you can only use scrolls.

You need a few call of nature scrolls to no loss ahriman. Ironically, I no lossed the spider with Viking/Warrior not the Soothsayer/Mage.

You clearly haven't seen how much damage a Viking/Warrior can do thanks to the buff they get for critical hit damage. Although mage spell nuke has been buffed too. Maybe I will continue my Viking/Warrior as I beat the game prematurely at level 55 or so.

The zombie woman gives the shield, but finishing the quest (after killing the devil fish and returning the woman to the lighthouse) gives the Call Colossus scroll. I do not think the quests rewards are randomized... Are they ???

For the wanderer scrolls, indeed it is in combat and it happens one times before finishing the 4 viking islands when delivering runwald (I had a flaming eye).

I know the Viking does not suck, it is just that I found it very less fun than skald or soothsayer. But indeed, I did not go far enough to have a clear idea. And as soon as I totally no loss with soothsayer, I may try a Viking
Not only Ahriman, it is the necromancer which is also tough... In my Viking game, Ahriman were beaten in 2 turns very easily without loss but the necromancer were way way too strong... Even with 3 call of nature scrolls...

Quest rewards are not randomized. However, did you get the Call Colossus scroll as a Soothsayer? I wonder if it is locked to your class; because I don't remember how I got mine and I did get it before the spider with my Soothsayer playthrough.

Fair enough (regarding Viking). Wow, two turns? How? I think the enemy hero mob sizes are randomized though, especially Ahriman and the Necromancer.

As food for thought, when I first fought Zal (the undead death knight guarding Rezo) with a Viking, I was fighting HUGE stacks of necromancers.

When I played as Soothsayer, it was nothing. However, one of the undead units on the beach had like 2x 9K skeleton stacks. ?!?!?
