A$1,000 for a flyable defiant

Whilst waiting for CoD to be sorted I purchases the A2A Spitfire. It is an awesome cockpit with everything workable in it. It feels far more realistic.
I was hoping that this level of detail and realism could be put into CoD. Even if this cost hundreds to purchase, I think there is enough of us out there that could afford it and justify producing it.

The ROC was not a fighter, more a recon / bomber / naval support. Many aircraft had rear gunners to defend themselves, defiant only one designed as a turretted fighter / bomber interceptor.

For a skilled sim fighter pilots, the defiant would be a total change of pace and new skills required. Could turretted fighters ever have succeeded with skilled pilots, gunners and tactics ? we can use Clod to find out!

Anyway I´m a professional 3d modeler, and I think to model an aircraft at COD standard detail level cost way more than 1000$ It is a full two moths work, the least, maybe more, and that if you already have all the necessary blueprints and right and complete reference material.

I think that 2 Months would even be far too less. Luthier stated before that building a CloD standard cockpit at least will need 6 months of full time researching, modelling, skinning.

Keeping in mind that a modeller's fair salary is about US$ 2.000,- then we simply need at least US$ 12.000,- for the Defiant's cockpit.

Just that simple

This information is for all who think that good models are growing somewhere on trees or falling off heaven. Now go ahead and count all the models we have so far in CloD and do the math

Maybe I searched for wrong images.

Same is with DCS P-51 WIP. I would love to buy it but looking at cockpit WIP I will not be able to force myself flying it after CloD. But this may be just me.

I suppose it may be a preference thing for subtle details.

I have the A2A Accusim Spitfire and with the possible exception of lighting/shadows, I find the detail (visually) in the Accusim cockpits far outstrip the CloD ones. Especially at high resolutions. Looking around those cockpits with Track IR or an equivalent really is amazing. Screen shots do not do them justice.

Add to that the functionality of all those things, though, and it really 'takes off'.

hmmmm, that's a tad steep, I'm sure quality models could be produced in emerging countries for half that. If I wait 12 months, the EU will be included in that group! LOL!

Ouch... That's the idea of the bounty system, though. Numerous people pay modest amounts which add up. If it is worth it, someone builds it. If not, they don't.

I don't think it would entice designers that are currently fully employed. It might be a nice enticement for a retired professional or hobbyist though.

Lets hope so, $1,000 for a deffy but i'm also willing to contribute lesser amounts for others as well - flyable whimpy, Condor, etc Hopefully users can find a common need?

Whatever were the designers thinking ? One extra crewman, all the extra weight of the extra man and a gunturret in order to carry four guns less than the hurri or spit crazy.
Forget the Defiant, lets have a Westland Whirlwind instead, with its tempramental engines its perfect for CoD !

Not that I want to belittle your generous offer but from what I heard talking to a business friend you have to chip up $100 these days for two pizzas and two glasses of wine in central Moscow so don't even think about a car It's not like the old days any more, like when I was offered a flyable AN-2 for $1000 in 1992.
