On the one hand, i miss the IL2:1946 experience and the varied content with official patches and mod packs.
On the other one i can't stand the simplified CEM, it has been my one major gripe with the series and after having flown CoD i can't go back to IL2 for any reasonable length of time just because of the simplified overheat mechanics and unrealistic engine operation.

What can i say, different priorities for different people. Graphics, sounds and what not are definitely important to me, but for now having a more accurate rendition of the workload involved in flying a fighter is what takes the front seat for me.

That being said IL2 is going to definitely be around for some time. I think CoD will take the torch when we have a stable sim and the mission scripting efforts pick up some speed, especially if the first CoD add-on is out by that time to give us a wider selection of flyables.

IL1946 died for me long time ago, when I saw a guy who flew fw190 and fired accurately from a distance of 2km.

A month ago on the BoB server I saw a Hurricane which flew with the speed of Mig-9, it was pathetic...

As opposed to the sounds on CoD then?
Get some perspective.. the sounds we have in CoD are pretty crap we all agree. But until the devs sort out that and the other multitude of recognised problems so that most people can actualy play the damn thing then people are quite rightly going back to other options.. ie, the old IL2.
Since the last patch, (which messed up the already problematic game), the game has become unplayable for many, hence the switch back to IL2 1946.

2km? Funny, as max convergence is 1000m(which sux for the BK).
So it's either BS or he was cheating.

E advantage = speed advantage.

Cheats exist, no doubt about that.
However, the better you get, the less cheaters you spot.

Yes, its all about inter-squad play, setting up maps, with controllers, parsers and going to war. In Ghost Skies we fly three times per week for 10-12 weeks and then go to another phase of the same map or start a new map. CoD cannot even begin to fill this niche, if not for the squads and the online wars I would not be flying any sim at all. Even Air Quake servers get boring after a while. As for CoD, its brilliant but it will be a bit before it comes into its own and we can do the 'controllers' and 'parsers' and have an adequate online war with it.

Ghost skies: is that eastern front?

I'd be very interested in any Western front, even, dare I say it, BoB based campaign leagues, and I think there'd be a couple of others in my squad that would be too.

Much as Clod is an undoubted upgrade to the stock IL-2 graphics and FM, it's lack of functionality in effect means we're flying on an empty Spits v 109 server with no ground attack missions (no, I still can't take off in the Blenhiem) to break the boredom, the occaisonal buggy AI buff and of course no map changes.

A modded '46 campaign would be extremely welcome.
