+1 Even if it does take its time to reach us over here!

Cheers!

I might have to pay extra for a collector's edition, even if it has to be shipped a long way.

Well I'm glad to say I've just pre-ordered the collectors edition from boostep.com for $93.20(AUD) delivered! Compare that to the official Australian UBI price of $89.95 which is for the download only version.

Boostep also points out the DVD is region B which includes Australia so I can't understand why UBI Australia are not offering it down here.

I've got a sneaky feeling that the collectors edition will be offered world wide closer to release, and it might be offered cheaper, if so I wont mind.

Especially since Australia was one of the countries whose airforce was actively involved sending pilots to serve with the RAF in the battle.

The marketing whiz kids do not seem to have taken into account which countries were actually involved in the battle when trying to guess likely demand.

Not to be contrary, but I was looking at all my Il2 series boxes, ROF original boxes and thinking to myself, I wonder if I'm a combat flight sim hoarder? Will reality TV show up one day and showcase me

I mean these days, when I reinstall Il2 (which has seemed to happen a bit over the last few years) - I use the 1946 DVD. The orginal Il2, Aces Expansion pack and Pacific Fighters have set on a shelf collecting dust for quite a few years. Copies of Mig Alley - from the Amiga Lucas Arts Battle of Britan and Flight of the Intruder, I threw away years ago.

So I find myself wondering what's the real utility of a collectors edition? I voted a while back for it - but now that I think about it - I'm not sure what the heck I'm going to do with it. I have the orginal copy of Rise of Flight with it's "map" which I never use. I have an ingame map.

The more I think about it, the less I think I need a collectors edition. I'd probably only buy one if it included a download - and I'd only buy it out of interest in "donating to the cause".

So if you have these old sims now - what exactly do you do with them? Do you bring them out and show them of when company comes over?

I think I'll be happy with the download.

S!

Gunny

I really enjoy unpacking a new game. I love reading the user manual (after trying to play with out it). European Air War was my first and all time favorite prop combat sim.great user manual with tips tactics and short pilot accounts of the war. I got it with a logitech force joystick and man it blew me away. Just downloading a games like going to dinner and jumping to the main course or sex with no foreplay.

Personally I find owning physical copies of games to be inconvenient. I often end up losing them, and I have enough crap in my little apartment as it is without having a bunch of game boxes. I have gotten so used to steam now that I would be rather put out if a game forced me to buy a disc. Not that I mind physical copies being available for those who want them.
