And finally...

With a shot to show how big the long pictures could actually be if I could upload them somewhere...

Has been fun. Would be good to set up some action to make full use of the extended viewing space, but it's all a bit time-consuming, so who knows...

Thanks.

Strange. Just noticed the last picture has disappeared. So has it's thumbnail in my list of pictures on Imageshack, but I can still view a small version of it there. Have uploaded it and will try to embed it again.

A few screen shots I use as a desktop background slide show. It's hard to deny that at least the lighting can be pretty.

Looking at these pictures I just have to say... this sim looks awesome!

A majority here alway complains about the dumbed down graphics since the rewrite. I agreed with that in most parts refering to the former game versions.

But these pics now look quite mature. Apart from that cloud shadows and high clouds are back. The canopy reflections are more intense as well I think. The lighting effects during dusk/dawn are fine.
I am wondering what is now still missing compared to the release version? Just out of my head I could only list the following:
- reflections of clouds/planes etc in the water below (which looked gorgeous, but also a bit unrealistic dont you think? at least in this intensity)
- morning fog over the landscape
- small calibre hit decals!!!

Did I miss something? In my opinion the game now looks stunning and overall I'm satisfied graphics-wise. Correct me if I am wrong!

[QUOTE=III/JG53_Don;468556...Did I miss something?...[/QUOTE]

There used to be a lighting effect on the planes that made them look more real and connected to their environment. If you look at the front half of the wings and the lower sides of the fuselage of the plane in the picture below, you can see the reflections there that show the effect. Those parts of the plane are in shadow but are still lit up a little bit by ambient light in the planes surroundings. It's no longer in the game and as a result the planes look more flat and artificial. It's probably regarded as trivial and low priority (like navigation and landing lights) but those sort of details can really add up and make the game a lot more immersive and realistic, for some people anyway.

You can see the effect in action (and in original colour) in this video at 00:15 and 00:38. (It's easier to see when watching in expanded view on Youtube. Just noticed too there are lots of cloud reflections in the water as well in that video )
