Yes, well spotted. I think it is a bug - I have seen it a few times and there's no way this guy actually had his wheels modelled down.

Thanks all, good fun! Foo'bar, I can't understand your problem especially with your system. The only thing I get when I'm close to an enemy is bullets... I run at 1600x900 though.

Thanks for the tip!

It seems this thread is implying that most people are still playing offline. What? I don't think i have ever touched single player in the original IL2, mabye Quick Mission Builder for target practice. I always figured Single player was just put in just to say it's there and as a side show to the real magic of multiplayer. Nothing is better then the experience of public servers, online campaigns and squadrons!

And i am even more surprised you have a fully modded HOTAS setup and you have never played online! I would of surely thought you would be using that to dominate everyone on the ATAG server.

Replicating something that truly happened, the way it happened is a big draw to some, not everyone buys this as a game, some bought it as a sim.

There's still a long ways to go before you can truly replicate the numbers in the air, and of course AI/radio are still completely screwed. But there's something to be said for bringing 4 Spits at 36 Ju-88s escorted by roughly 120 LW fighters (110s and 109s). It's kind of a cat-and-mouse game trying to head-fake your way into the bombers to hit them. I'll post the mission someday if other people are interested.
But you can do the same thing with online campaigns against the AI and turn those 4 spits into real people communicating on teamspeak. That sounds more like a simulation to me! I'm scared of playing offline against a cold, dark and soul less computer player.

I'd like to see the mission when you have time.

I'm not sure about 'most' people but I know a lot are. Let's find out: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=28418

As cheesehawk said I like setting up scenarios that are difficult to achieve online. I also check out the loadouts and their effect on the various damage models offline with the damage report script.

Online certainly has a lot to offer in terms of adrenaline, though. And chasing (or in my case being chased) by a human opponent is much more satisfying!

Welcome to the big leagues.

Great report jimbop.

Seems to me you have things down pretty well for a new online player.

Yes, that's the sort of thing that makes offline worth doing. Bomber defence is tremendous fun offline and requires a very different approach.

As ElAurens said in the other thread the unpredictability and cunning of humans opponents definitely wins out in dogfight.
