Of course you have a point Krupi, as most people who post do, I dont want to see the end of CLOD, but I would certainly like to see some more action/communication from the Dev's a few pics taken in the office doesn't do it for me after being sold a 'pup'. 4 months after release and still no MP sound fix is far from pleasing, and the office pics with everyone smiling isn't really what I wanted to see, however a picture of all the team stood behind a banner with the words 'WE ARE SORRY GUYS' on it would of been better recieved.

I can understand the enthusiasm a person may have to get access to a game that others are playing, even when they are aware that some people endlessly complain that it's not perfect.
I can also understand the reticence of ubi to release the game to an easily disappointed audience of casual gamers who will be unlikely to have the patience or aptitude to manage their systems or accept CoD's current shortcomings.
I'm enjoying this diamond in the rough, but it definitely needs more polishing.

If you really want the game it can be obtained and activated in North America- many other threads have described in detail how it can be done. In a perverse way that is protecting the brand- only those willing to navigate the tortuous trail are getting it, and they are more likely to persevere with it.

Ubi have my money... Order cancellation would take an act of God... Allah... Whoever...
Activation through any US site is blocked... Believe me I've tried... I am quite prepared to accept it in it's present form...
I have spent the last 25+ years tweaking many... MANY... system configurations in an effort to beat down every flight sim that has sucked me in... as in, I have spent more hours getting them to even load, never mind run like stink!
Call me stupid, but those are the facts...
If anyone has a problem with COD, ask for your money back... And move on...
If that is not an option... Go code your own game...
If that is not an option... Try to be patient...
The chance of any game being released in a perfect state is extremely rare, and I for one never expect it.

I regard them all as a tribute to the memory of the men who lived and DIED during an incredible period in history

If this sounds crass to anyone, tough... I appreciate the effort involved in recreating those times...
In the end it's a $50 game... I can drink that in a weekend when the wife's not looking...

But my world does not revolve around my computer... It's just a nice break from reality...
Oh, to have been born around 1920 or so...

With the greatest respect retrojet, you may want it released as it is in the USA (and I can say that it's worth having even with all its current faults) but I do have it and I don't want it released yet as I am afraid the extremely important US market will bury it alive due to the bugs and MG may fall off the cliff as a result. Then it may never be fixed.

I'm really sorry you can't get to it yet as you're obviously one of the people willing to live with the bugs for a while. I think the MP sound bug may be the key, they may release it over there once its fixed. Luthier said at the last patch it would take 'several months' but then last week when he released the 'mugs gallery' he said it was going better than expected.

We're all hanging on his every (occasional) word and my gut feeling is September for the sound bug fix, but then I'm an optimist.

I used to be a pessimist but I was depressingly wrong about everything

And in that vein, I think if I had been born in 1920 and had actually mnade it as a fighter pilot I would probably have lasted about..ummm.. 5 minutes

I think that if Ubi is expecting big North American sales they are going to be disappointed.

I think that most everybody in North America that wants/wanted the game already has it.Sure there are a few left that are waiting on the DVD or the digital download to be activate but I do not think there are a lot.

WWII is a niche market and most of the PR is word of mouth(or forums). It is hard for anyone outside to stumble across these sims.

DVDs on the shelf might pull in some sales from the casual gamer. But Ubi has done a horrendous job at advertising. In this respect I think bloated Steam might help. Those with no knowledge of the game will see it plastered on the screen when Steam starts up and might give it a try.

So in conclusion I think most of the North American sales are already done.

Notam:I have no figures to back any of this up.It is just a feeling.

So you are what? Related to marketing in any way or just wildly guessing and blowing into the open? I think more the later. No offense but i dont get why so many people (that obviously care about this game - if not they wouldnt roam this forum all the time) have nothing better to do but to try and talk the game dead.
I for my part am pissed from the bugs too. But i still love the game and like to play it even with those bugs. Some of you should engange in serious soul-searching and see if its not in reality the same to them and then think twice before posting.

Klem: I was thinking more along the lines of the 'twenty minuters' as in FlashHeart?
Anyway, I've always considered our community totally hardcore in defense of the flight sim genre, hence the high emotional discussions

Icewolf: I want the sim more, but thanks

Winger and Troll2K: Honestly... I hate to think my post would end up causing others to fall out...

I like to think we're all on the same side, whether we prefer axis over allies or not.

They're all just 'games' in the end... But expensive hobbies when you add up all the years of upgrades, (software and hardware)

So our commitment is strong, and when it all comes together, so worth it

Let's hope for a happy ending... What say you, mateys!? Are ye with me!?

Ok, now I'm getting carried away.... By the guys in white coats... Hehe!

All the best!

See you up there!
