winny thank you for a poll that finally has a use & is not skewed in one direction.

Very much enjoying playing it.... i think the future looks good for this sim. With full realism & the huge potential via the mission builder... I'll defiantly get my money's worth over the next few years.

After the US release I’m going to wait and see what happens before buying. I have no interest in beta testing a game that has been in development for 5 or 6 years and is still not ready.

Time will tell, IL-2 Sturmovik is a great game so let’s see if IL-2 Sturmovik / Cliffs of Dover can hold onto its customers after a ruff start, I think it well.

Is it really ethical to take your loyal customers hard earned money for COD in its current state?

I read this forum almost daily for the past 4 years; page after page. I think I have a good idea that “I've put it away to see if it's fixed in the future” would be my exact course of action, so yes my vote was indeed a ethical.

Enjoying it despite the problems.

That doesn't mean there are no problems, it just means they are gradually being reduced, making the sim usable and fun as time goes by.

I run it on a two-year old PC with most of the settings on medium, it's smooth, to me it looks better than IL2 on max detail and has a lot more complexity to tinker with when flying the aircraft, so overall it works very well for me.

stopped playing it until it improves a great deal.

I could live with the gfx and fps issues if the fm's were anywhere near close to reality, plus you could actually fly at the planes operational heights.

but at the moment, just doesn't cut it for me.

Pseudo fullscreen prevents AA from being implemented properly, as well as V-sync. Some Amd cards also don't clock up to full speed because of it.
That is my understanding of the issue.

I guess the closest one on this list for me is "put it away to see if it is fixed in the future"

Playability wise it works great now. The new beta seems to have made it very playable indeed. With that said....

If this game came out today in the state that it is in the best I could give it is a 6/10. Not because of playability, but yet replayability.

I am not a very big online gamer, and it seems that this is the direction that this game wants to take. I wonder if a dynamic campaign will make its way in but for replayability purposes it lags far far behind the original Red Baron from the early 90's. I want to hear about how much of a badass I am for downing 5 planes (because I have unlimmited ammo of course)... and get scorned for when I leave my wingmen. A feel of progression really is missing.

So at this time I check back in time from time to see if there are any new developments and play once or twice when a new patch comes out. Until the community brings depth to the single player experience. I am affraid I won't be able to fully enjoy the game.

For what it is though, the flight model is supurb the damage effects are top notch, and you really feel good when you blow a plane out of the sky and watch it spiral to the ground. But it all disapears when you mess up and crash on landing just to get the same boring "I was glad to be back on the ground" speach.

Shelved the game for the time being. Will check back later when hopefully most of the obvious problems have been fixed.

I'm fairly satisfied and I'm enjoying the sim dispite the flaws that are there. I also have faith in these guys after seeing what they did with the original IL2. It may not happen as fast as last time, but I do think before the end of the summer - she will be rockin'.

If it is easy to implement, maybe the developers could consider putting in texture compression. Most do not have vid cards with 1.5 GB of VRAM. That is atypical for gaming. All my other games run smooth as glass at decent resolutions with just 256 mb VRAM. Yet this game, at 640x480 and all settings toned down to barest of bare, when I run the tiger moth track(which is just one plane over land), I see pauses even though the frame rates, min, max and average are all above 30 fps. Also, I check youtube vids now and again and guys with the best systems and plenty of VRAM with high settings...I see that frame rates are decent, but I also notice only two or three planes in these videos...and I still see the pauses. So, that makes me not want to upgrade at this point in time. I need a lot more positive evidence before buying a new pc for this game, when my current pc suits me fine in every other way except for CLOD. Texture compression might be an interim solution for guys like me who are hesitant to invest in hardware at this point and have no reason to play CLOD otherwise.
I'm afraid to say that 256mb v-ram is nowhere near enough in today's gaming world.
My trusty old Nvidia 6800 GT had 256 mb v-ram, and that was back in 2004 - seven years ago.
You may get away playing a few console ports with such low v-ram, but in all honesty 1gb v-ram is about standard today. 512mb v-ram is about as low as you want to go nowadays.
