According to the documentation for your monitor, it's native resolution is 2560x1600. You run your desktop at that resolution, so that is good.
However, you stated that "...NVIDA control panel says that the native resolution for this monitor is 1280x800...". This may be part of your problem. I would suggest going into the NVIDIA control panel and trying to change that setting (from 1280x800 to 2560x1600). Your documentation: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...Specifications In addition, you stated that your conf file looks like this: [window] width=1600 height=1200 ColourBits=32 DepthBits=24 StencilBits=8 ChangeScreenRes=1 FullScreen=1 DrawIfNotFocused=0 EnableResize=0 EnableClose=1 SaveAspect=1 Use3Renders=0 Well, that is 1600x1200. You need to manually change that to 2560x1600. When you do that, start the game. Do not make any other changes in the Set-up screen or you will lose those settings. Aviar

then save it. now you have opengl. also, adjust your video card settings. usually you can create a custom profile for each game you play. some of those settings may or may not apply to open gl. |

sorry, didn't see that you were having issues with the menus in game. Yeah, change your game resolution to that of the monitor in the conf.ini, and change the bold stuff that madblaster posted.

OK, on the right track, this is what works in the config.ini:
[window] width=1715 height=1053 ColourBits=32 DepthBits=24 StencilBits=8 ChangeScreenRes=0 FullScreen=1 DrawIfNotFocused=0 EnableResize=0 EnableClose=1 SaveAspect=0 Use3Renders=0 [GLPROVIDER] GL=Opengl32.dll [GLPROVIDERS] Open GL=Opengl32.dll DirectX=dx8wrap.dll I have never heard of 1715x1053, additionally it is forcing me into "windowed" mode, when I check it in the in game graphics setup menu. It does run well in SLI. I have tried both ways, and maybe it is just me but the graphics seem clearer/smoother in SLI. It is not using all of the desk top "real estate" in this resolution at the sides of the display, there is about 2 and 1/2 inches at each side. From top to bottom about 5/8 of an inch, but at least I am in. I looked at settin up a custom resolution, but the NVIDIA warning about damaging the monitor scared me away. What will setting up a custom resolution do for me? Will that get me full screen? I feel like I owe all of you money for all of the help you have been giving me. Something is not right here but I can't put my finger on it....not enough info. You shouldn't be having this much trouble.
My feeling is that the problem is in your NVIDIA settings, not the game. Have you tried to set your conf file to: [window] width=2560 height=1600 Aviar

Go to Steam and do a file integrity check so the default steam version is back to original files. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL2 1946 Please copy the whole IL2 1946 file directory from the Steamapps\common folder to a hard drive outside of the program folders eg: C:\IL2 1946 Ok now work on the settings in the new copied IL2 1946 directory on your hard drive. C:\IL2 1946 Don't forget to get your patches installed as well. Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 06-01-2012 at 10:49 AM. |

here is your monitor http://www.dell.com/content/topics/t...~section=specs iirc, SLI actually splits your monitor in half. So, each video card gets a half. So, 2560/2 =1280 and 1600/2=800 I think that is why you seeing this message. "...NVIDA control panel says that the native resolution for this monitor is 1280x800...". I think you need a SLI expert on this if you are going to use SLI. The other choice, run the game on one card and turn the other off somehow. I have no idea how you do this though. You may want to use lower resolution than native to get better fps. |

Well thank you to all! I am at the very usable point. For whatever reason, my graphics issues have cleared up about 95%. The image stretches at that odd resolution from edge to edge, although I still have that small annoying area at the bottom of the screen. SLI is still enabled, with it working this well, I don't know that there will be an advantage disabling it.
One thing that I would like to do though, although I don't know if it is possible. Can you deactivate the written text? My 8 year old is coming up with a colorful vocabulary. I am now waiting for him to say that on of the other planes is "going to hell". And he is already discussing the new uses for Damn it! Can you change the metric altitude/speed block in the left corner to imperial units? What would updating to the latest version do for me? Is it worth the effort after all of this? Thanx again, JGP |

iirc, in conf.ini look for this section:
[game] nosubtitiles = 0 and change to 1 (1=yes, 0=no) in the controls part of the game look under "misc\toggle speed bar" and see what key is mapped. when you play, you can cycle through what you want with that key/control (mph/ft, kph/meters, knots, hidden) I would recommend you patch up the game and fix the voids and windowed screen. but it is up to you, of course. the official patches http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...p=show&kid=584 if you dig into that link, there are readme that tell what the patch fixes. you have to install them in order if you go that route. good luck and enjoy the game.
