Spider no loss without Magic Spring ?

With your leadership and IF you got the phantom scroll i would go with trolls, royal snakes, maidens, bersereks ,and jarls. Second turn go berserek with.. bersereks on boss

I tried doing the ice spike trick, but couldn't get them to fill up the board fast enough before the spider summons would destroy them. Admittedly, I had a full team so it might have been harder to maneuver.

Also, I wonder if that would drain away his mana reserves too fast too?

Well, I think he wanted to do phantom with the berserkers which might work but it seems expensive manawise.

Had the spider down to 3k then it killed a troll with one shot.
I used 5/1 trolls. Will try it again.
With 4/1/1 i run out of mana before getting him below 6k. Will try it with stoneskin 1 (3 mana instead of 5).
I give up tries with 6 trolls + 5 jotuns. Below 10k you must heal jotuns every turn.
Important:
1. there are much more new spiders if they were attacked. I don't attack any spawned spider.
2. spider boss changes position clockwise. Attack stack should be most right at spider to get fast to new location when spider boss moves.
3. all units should stay at a position where only 2 adjacent spiders can attack.

I'm sure 5/1/1 would succeed but how to get this leadership?
Now i'm thinking about iceball. Will test it this night too.

after many hours where i tried this spider boss with no-loss/no mana spring i had the luck to succeed in 58 rounds

Trolls were 4/1/1 (only 4 stack attacks, other only defend).
All other tries with 1 of 2 units get perma-web when boss is below 8k.
Winning key were the correct positions and using only stoneskin 1.

You can do it with a fairly standard army no loss.

Army:
Trolls, unsplit
Warrior maidens, split into 2
2x damage stacks, or 1 tank + 1 damage

Trolls tank and slowly damage the spider. Call of nature right in-front of the spider is also a good idea. Warrior maidens resurrect anything that dies. Other stacks clean up spiders and can hit the big spider if you have a revive handy.

Congrats! How did you manage to get to level 20 though as Soothsayer on impossible? Seemed sort of difficult unless you had an Ancient Knowledge Scroll?

I had luck to get Ancient Knowledge and Flaming Eyes. Used 4 scrolls for 20 higher battles.
Without Ancient Scrolls level 18 + Flaming Eyes should be enough to have 6 trolls in army. Call Colossus would be helpful to get the trolls, but i had to produce them with sacrifice/maiden rez which cost me a lot of runes and crystals.

Maidens were killed very fast. You must handle 10+ stacks with 200+ spiders without loss. BTW Maidens resurrects 1-4, not the trolls.
