I think it will be good and i will buy it in time but i don't think it is too much to ask to be given more solid information regarding certain aspects which haven't been addressed.
If it can be answered ,then why haven't they? that alone makes people doubt.
Lets be honest it has been a shambles so far, Ubi being announced on the hoof as it was badly leaked and not really being a popular choice.
A change of title announced which went down like a lead balloon ,yes even on this forum,
A poor advertising video preview, hardly a positive start. They need to start putting something of substance together soon to put the doubts to bed and sell to people who are sitting on the sidelines.
I hear you...But...
We, fanboys, have been following CoD developpement from the very start. We have retained a lot of information. We have read every single thread. We have read every single Oleg's comment...And not only on this forum.
We have learned to "know" Oleg and how he works...5 years ago, Oleg wrote on this forum that he was willing to show us WIP, as long as it would not become a weapon for its competitors. And on the "Future of Sims", he also stated that if someone would come up with enough money, he would team up with them and add some secret ideas that he has. So there is a lot that we still dont know or haven't been shown only to preserve his "Oleg's way to do things"....The fanboys KNOW that, but not the casual member...So , we are telling you to stop complaining, or more gently said " worrying" about the fact that the game seems to be incomplete at this stage...And since its released in a couple of months, you think it is impossible to have a faboulously looking game...Oleg allways said: I will show things when I feel they are ready to be shown. Important features (read clouds) have to be tuned to 100% before going public...So have faith my friends !

Salute !

Why do we have to wait for the sim to be purchased and on our computers before we see these "hidden" goodies that are promised [not by Oleg but assumed by people on here ].
Has no one considered the facts that maybe ,just maybe what we have and see is it,there are no hidden jewels.
Yes it is a forum,a forum is that should be open enough to ask, discuss not get shouted down as a doubter.
I am worried that when the sim is released people will have built up too much hope on these issues and then feel deflated.
I wait with baited breath to be shot down for daring to ask.
Just out of interest ,how much can be added in 2 months before release without risking introducing problems and bugs?
We have to wait proppably because showing of all the goodies making sure nobody feels left out (very easy among flightsimmers apparently) would take a "small" video thats a day long.

Its way more easy showing of Crysis so long as the graphics is "awsome" because they dont give a rats a** about the rest.

I'm quite surprised all the negative posts are actually allowed,on an official forum.Since the announcement of the release they seem worse, and appear to be building up in to some sort of frenzy, for some weird unexplained reason.
I would like to request that the moderators jump on it a bit more, because it is getting to the stage where it could cost sales, because someone new to this forum, looking for info on CoD,will just think its carp, and forget about it.
Oh,and +1 to what El Aurens said.

We could use some dedicated moderators around here indeed.
I am sick of all the redicilous negativity and whiners, whomever thinks IL2 is even close to CoD needs to have their head examined, its a reason for why the created a whole new engine for crying out loud.

Well here's my considered opinion and I hope it's balanced.

I am REALLY looking forward to experiencing this application. I've been waiting many years to see it and I've been using IL-2 since almost day 1 of its release.
The vast majority of screenshots, descriptions, video clips and answers to questions that Mr Maddox and 1C have provided over the last few months and years show a very interesting air combat simulation that is a huge leap ahead of the original IL-2 and that is the foundation for a sustainable future and great entertainment. The Collector's Edition set looks like a very well thought out selection of items that should appeal to any one of us here and that was a surprise. I have every expectation that COD will be a success with the sim community and probably beyond.

However:
I find it odd that the official promotional video is not as polished as it could be. Regardless of the motivation no other major release promotion would deliberately tone down the graphical quality. You present your product at its best, that's basic marketing. Despite that it still looks very good.
Secondly, as has been commented upon to death, the IL-2 COD name is poor and ill advised but that won't affect sales.
Lastly, I'm very very surprised at the lack of comment from Mr Maddox about the official release. To provide extremely well received weekly updates with extensive follow ups but then when the release is announced say effectively nothing on the subject is most peculiar. I'd have hoped that Mr Maddox would have had a prepared bit of text stating his pleasure at finally being able to offer us a pre-order and explaining the products on offer (the collector's set contents etc) and also some details of the final application. I for one am in awe of what Mr Maddox and his development team have achieved both with IL-2 and COD but I'm perturbed that the final announcement of availability had no fanfare or excitement. It's not what I expected to happen here on the forum.

In conclusion ... the release could have been handled a little better but the actual product, the thing we've all been waiting for all these years, should and most probably will be exceptionally good. We should all just be really thankful that there's a product at all and offer all the support to Oleg's team that we can.

Regarding the promotional video, its only "low res. old stuff" to those of us who have been lurking arround theese forums for years on end, not to thoose who see this game for the first time thinking "maby i should try flight simming, i wonder whats out there for me to choose from"

Thoose are the people promo vids are for , not us junkies in here, because frankly, if anyone, after all theese years and screens/videos, still needs to be convinced of what CoD will be then this game is proppably NOT for "u" (not u specificly), and never will be. And thats perfectly ok to, we cant all have the game of our dreams.
