Sorry but that is the truth. These type of games have a very limited appeal especially to the console market.
And now the niche market has been completely turned off due to lack of German cockpits!

One of the reasons I have some hope that this game will have satisfactory sales is that there are at least two ww2 flying games coming out (the other being Heroes Over Europe). Before a company would take on such a cost of creating a game there must be some market research and revenue projections. Games with shitty sales are usually the result of poor development and not poor genre choice. I'm not saying that this game will take the world by storm but I really hope that it does well for two reasons: 1. So that we may have more and 2. to reward the devs for their work and vision.

I don't know how many of you guys have even checked, but currently BoP is the second most popular demo on the marketplace. I don't care if IL-2 is incredibly niche, because BoP is looking to expand on that by adding an arcade mode.

And I also had never heard of IL-2 until this demo, and look where it has brought me... their forum.

Flying sims may be a niche market but having a ton of fun isn't. If it turns out to be a kick-ass game that a variety of people can enjoy, then it could do quite well. Having the arcade mode will be one of the reasons if this game does well. Having the sim mode will keep it connected to it's roots and prove that this game is based on history in aviation. Having realistic mode will make people like me sport a perpetual shit-eating grin.

This game coming to the consoles is a welcome surprise; I already had plans to get Heroes over Europe, so this is icing on the cake.

I think it will sell well enough to garner a sequel, but probably won't fly off the shelves. This type of game never really does, though.

September is going to be GREAT!

Totally arcade. No realism.

There is even this weird feature where you can choose what part of the plane to shoot(including the pilot himself).

Oh, i figured there couldn't be TWO new realistic flying games comming to consoles, at the same time, virtually. That would be too good, right ?
