My sister wants a physical copy to prevent these issues with downloading the game say 5 years later, did they remove the cruddy copy protection? Because there is NO way I can find a physical copy here in calgary, which is very odd. Thanks!

I don't think King's Bountry (CD-copy) uses strict activation limits even though they use securom for the cd-check. Spore for example had a 3 install limit if you bought the game on CD or bought it online through Steam or Direct2Drive. So no, Kings Bounty shouldn't limit the number of times you can use the installer.
As for downloading the game instead, GamersGate generic FAQ states this for any game:
Do you use SecuRom or any other protection on the games?
Yes, some games got some kind of protection. That is on request from developers and publishers. However, the activation limit that may be on this protection is easy reset by an email to support@gamersgate.com. ANY GAME BOUGHT ON GG IS YOURS TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL AS MANY TIMES YOU LIKE!
