Well, everything comes at the time YOU decide them to come

If anybody doesn't got the buck or envy or whatever to upgrade his machine it shouldnt be used as a mockery

I personnaly prefer waiting for when the config that will make Clod run will be around 800-1000€ (screen comprized). Or something like it, you get the idea, right now I prefer spending a thousand euros in holidays or nice restaurants with the girlfriend Question of priorities in life i guess

[edit]
How long do you reckon it usually takes for steam support to answer to an email modification request?
Just to know if it is worth waiting pressing F5 on the steam ticket.
Pressing F5 here hasn't bring any luck today I was fairly expecting the readme

S!

Grawl, but also saving up for a new OS like Windows 7 64-bit is not a big feat either. A gamer does not need the Ultimate version at all, Home Premium is more than enough for a casual game or even HC gamer. As you said it is about priorities as some might waste that money in a whim without remorse getting drunk in a bar, but an OS feels so terribly expensive WinXP is not an option for me anymore after using W7 64-bit, so much less hassle and stuff.

I totally agree that Win 7 is a huge step forward compared to XP !
And an even bigger step forward compared to Vista (no it's not a mistake, I know what I'm talking 'bout ).

But Win 7 needs a somewhat powerful computer to make it run well, so sometimes it's not worth it to get only the OS, it will just be really slow.

Personnaly I'm fine with my old laptop, it does not run well any modern game, but I can play anything relatively smoothly when lowering graphics (1024*768 and all to the bottom). I never thought i could get Skyrim to run on it for exemple, but it does, and (relatively) good.

I think the right phraseology would be something like ''you COULD upgrade".
We should make a club of low-end machines users, I wonder how many we are?

mmmh gone a bit off the road here.

Does anyone tried CoD in DX9 mode? I would really enjoy this game, even if it has the lights/reflections, etc of Il2 46.

Yes, its working :

but with low resolution shadows (inherent to DX9 limitations) and the map textures are not in his full glory.

The performance is also worse than in DX10.

If anyone wish a try change Render=D3D10_0 to Render=D3D9_1 in your conf.ini

I decided not to download any of the beta patches in case it made things worse.

I'm just patiently waiting for the developers to sort out the problems & release the official patch to solve the problems.

Besides, with Windows 8 on the horizen, you'll probably be able to pick up a copy of Windows 7 relatively cheaply - but then again, will Cliffs of Dover work with Windows 8 or will it cause a whole new load of problems?

Then JGSME is your firend, you can switch between different mods/patches and your original files remain untouched.
