Hi Friedric

Your new rig looks killer

I put together something very similar the other week, typing on it just now, went for the slightly faster I7 3960 E and also the Asus Rampage Extreme IV clocked to 4.6GHz, its mainly for FSX as this sim will use all six cores but CLOD flys on it too, this system is much quicker than my previous I7 2600K overclocked slightly higher ... I even have the same soundcard (Asus Xonar STX) as you, running a GTX 680 though, running a Corsair H100 for cooling too.

Enjoy.

Cheers mate, I see you went socket 2011 six core too, was thinking about going for Ivy Bridge, but no six cores until at least a possible E version late/early next year, also they heat up a bit too much for my liking, glad I made this move to socket 2011 Sandy Bridge-E now.

Enjoy.

i heared above a problem with the low quality thermal paste between the micro and the cooler fan sold by intel but i m not sure. You should perhaps investigate on this side before changing your point of view.

S!

Only thing keeping me away from 2011 socket is the damn price Here you have to sell your organs, rob a bank and mug some bypassers for money to get one So have to settle with 2500K which is a great piece of hardware for it's price Nice rigs you got there! Katana, how about that sound card..I have been watching on one like that, but not sure if I get improvement over onboard in gaming. Any impressions you got?
