The old 24/7 ADW pilots - both VVS and LW - were all regularly called a bunch of cheaters, just because they had talent and way too much time to kill.
I was suspected to cheat myself several times and I made the mistake of suspecting someone else myself once (I fell for the Il2 1946 La-5 FM - a totally shot up La-5 just kept on going for minutes and minutes without any sign of limitation due to missing parts and burning engine, well at least I could admit I was wrong - it wasn´t the player, it was just the game, which was cheating ;P ).

Even if you have 100% cheat proof system, which you will never have, there will always be someone hunting witchers. If you find yourself impressed by virtual stats of a PC game and worry about if someone is better or cheating, you should sit back and think about your life for a while - something went wrong.

I thought Steam had the anti cheat.VAC.

It might be just for hosting a multiplay game and not the dedicated server.

S!

Have been playing old IL-2 actively from 2008.

To date, I haven't seen a single case of cheating in either the old IL-2 or CloD, only good pilots, and the not so good pilots. In some cases the not so good ones claim that the better ones are DEFINITELY cheating

Had my fair share of being at the receiving end of the bullet stream, and I can't say that in any of those cases that the bullet donator was cheating. It was just my bad piloting.

If there has been cheaters, they've hidden their cheating well.

I've had these thoughts about the old IL-2 Spit FM as well .. But, as I know how it is "flawed", I can adjust my own flying accordingly.

EDIT:
Just to make my point clear: I have nothing against anti-cheat coding, but I also don't see cheating as much of a problem. At least currently.

It's a game therefore some people cheat. If you don't get that then you are very naive.

It has not been implemented for CoD.

Maybe I'm naive to think that I might get an answer to a simple question, when will anti-cheat prevention be implemented for CoD?

I cannot imagine for the life of me that I could spend the money for a decent rig then, spend the time if I knew how to - find some kind of code or make it that would allow me to have an advantage over someone "just because".

This is a simulator in which to many have a very historical significance to them in some way - they are just connected to it. On many occasions I've ran into people who lost family in this war. So there is a sort of romance with this.

I find that most of the virtual pilots in this seem to be...well...seasoned shall I say. The biggest group of people that watch my videos on this product are between 40-65 and that makes up about 95% of them.

We can all think of many examples where just about anything you do, there is always someone willing to toss out that you are cheating to explain things.

But then again there are those bubblegum smacking, juice drinking preteens that sometimes dominate voice comms always whining about being flat out owned. It's very hard to admit to oneself that indeed not everything our mothers tell us is true. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose.

So help me here Doc, you are saying that cheating does not happen so we don’t need a system to combat cheating?

It's a fair question, Skorp. I have no intel on this at all, but I'm guessing that VAC will only be implemented once the recoding is finalized -- hopefully in the foreseeable future.

Matt

You must have misunderstood me or perhaps I didn't make myself very clear. I often am guilty of that now days.

BUT this sort of thing will always be part of life in the virtual world.

No Doc. I hve to disagree.

A lot of ppl are running away from online gaming because of the prevalance of cheating.

A small part found it as a niche to whatever they like in it but most are simply turning away from gaming.

I don't think it's a bad tendency generaly speaking ( for man kind benefits)but for a game like an airplane simulation with a slow learning curves it's simply disastrous.

Many old IL2 big names are not to be seen before long on any CoD server because of this. Youngest tht hve a gaming experience fully parasited by this problem won't for most see any interest to take the time needed to learn such complicated game. Hence the forseen success of much lighter simulation like WoP on console etc...

If 1c and alikes really wants to secure their busness model, it's a battle tht they wld hve to fight. We as users are simply helpless and more like being kept as hostage by the cheater.

As hacking and cheating has now become virtually an "industry", companies like 1C are now taking direct hits from this guys and their corporate model is now directly affected dollar wise. Hence I am confident they will now take it very seriously and found the parade.
