So what if "others" are looking at Oleg's work? Someone's going to steal an idea, and beat Oleg to the punch? Remember, I'm only asking for a small demo to show 6dof implementation from inside the Spit, and the 109. Am I being asked to believe that after all these years of knowing of the existence of SoW that development hasn't proceeded to even this point? DCS's Black Shark effort has produced several videos along the way, and those have always been greeted with excitement from it's fans (including me). Sure someone always questions certain aspects of what they see, or don't see. But so what? Really that's not important to me. To be perfectly frank, the one thing I look forward to in SoW is the internet play. It's the one thing that has kept me from buying Bob_WoV. People can talk about damage models, and surely about FMs, but that's a much ado about very little, imho. I know that FMs are really relative to how much processing power one wants to commit to; you can't model every plane's FM accurately and still have processing power for the eye candy we all love at frame rates we can live with.
Hmmmm... It seems to me that the sim FighterOPs is being called vaporware because so little content is being released. I'm not suggesting this about SoW, but merely pointing out that too little info is a bad thing. At least Oleg answers questions once in a while here. But again, I'm only asking for a little video, and very specificly at that. So, to sum it up, I guess there are two camps here: those who want a simple video now, and those who can wait longer (even my squadron commander 99th_Bearcat ![]() ![]() Flyby out ps to Bearcat: getting back is always on my mind, boss. Soon too, I hope.

Flyby you definately have my vote. Would be nice to have a new video to look at a billion times over as with all the others

And then it still comes down to the simple thing that this is not up to Oleg. So you're even addressing the wrong people here.

Flyby, don't get me wrong - If a video - or screenshot, or anything came out - I'd be the first to 'woo' over it and be grateful to you for asking in the first place.
![]() My reservations concerning information release and support of 1C's current approach (very low information release) as compared to what we experienced during Il2 development - is based upon my own experience with both the flight simulation genre (user) and software development (manager). If a company has enough cash-on-hand to afford the development effort - then there is absolutely no reason to release anything other than a teaser from time to time. The video that you'd like (me too) would give a good taste of 'look and feel' - which is one of the main attributes of the 1C products over anything Microsoft or anyone else has developed. If this were the 1st effort for 1C - then I'd say dump out as much stuff as possible for user input - on the other hand I think 1C has made very honest mistakes in the past by providing the community with too much information. On the other hand, I hope your right - and I'm wrong so I can feed my own personal need for information. I do think you are asking the right question to the correct folks. S~ Gunny |

Gunny, thanks for the additional feedback. If I've got you wrong it's only in a good way (unless you're the demon who steals children in the night-but no one knows it)
![]() We are the fanbase of IL2. It's been out for quite a while now, and I'm sure the number of fans is growing still. We aren't going anywhere, to be sure. I'm sure Oleg is tired of reading requests like mine, or reading what some malcontents may write. I can sympathize with him to a degree. Still...just a a teeny-tiny video showing the implementation of 6dof from inside the Spit and inside the Emil. OK I'm dreaming, but... Flyby out PS within the world of IL2 and SoW we are all cool imho. Wouldn't it be great if the outer world could follow our lead? Maybe we could entice Bush and Kill Il Jong to fight it out on Hyperlobby. The loser would have to spend a night up to his neck in a barrel of diarrhetic goat feces! LOL!!! Bet that would be the dogfight of all time! But I digress. ![]()

You have a great sense of humor, Flyby. Agree with all 100%. And yes, your correct - I'm not a demon.
Your gonna make me re-install CFS3 and try again (for the nth time) if you keep talking. Did not know they had 6DOF mod. Played with Flanders Field when it was being developed and liked it. I'll go check it all out again. On another note - I love 6-DOF also. Tonight I was flying on a server at about 9,500 meters in an FW-190A6, in a slow climb attempting to get above a flight of high flying P-38's. I had altitude on them, but had to keep turning off-course to keep them in sight while closing because of the "cockpit blockage" - I kept thinking the whole time "If I just had 6DOF I'd have made my attacks by now". Yo Gunny!
It might surprise you to know that I have not flown either IL2 nor CFS3 for over two years now. Still I'm a fan of IL2, primarily, but I guess my being here makes that a bit obvious. Aside from my gaming pc being fried, I had some health problems to contend with. Good thing Bearcat never listed me as awol! ![]() ![]() I feel for your predicament in the Anton, trying to keep an eye on the '38s. In CFS3 you'd have no problem leaning to view around cockpit framing, or even viewing behind your seat. Imho CFS3 isn't so bad at all. Still Hyperlobby and IL2 rule. Thanks for sharing that glimpse of virtual combat. I really really miss it. Maybe that's why I'm asking Oleg for a simple little video. I know. "There he goes again!" Well...you know. Flyby out

As I posted, I am not at all against a short clip or bit of information, but I understand that there is more to this than just to give a picture to please the customers.
UBIsoft is in charge here. They put a hold on all information about BoB and Galba, because they are both based uppon the SoW-Engine which is their proberty. They give the money, they are the ones responsible for adworks and releases. When they posted the picture on the RRG-Studio-site for example, it was noted that even posting that picture was stepping over the lines of their contract with UBIsoft. And then I also can understand this information politics from Olegs point of view. Just look what kind of trouble they ran into with all the information about PacificFighters. They posted screenshots, published planelists and about features that in the end never made it into the full, because circumstances didn't allow that. It wasn't even up to 1C, but they were bashed, flamed and crucified because they gave out wrong information. The very same happened with LockOn. When it was clear they wouldn't make it to the plotted release, people posted threats about conducting lawyers and stuff. Even worse when Flaming Cliffs was released and there was "only" one RUSSIAN plane in it - boy, were they flamed, though that addon was awesome. |
