BTW this seems to be a model issue, Spit Ia should have much better performacne especially at higher altitude. As simulated ATM even Hurricane is better in climb and speed. This should'nt be.

If it's a Spit 1a, you can use the negative G to get outside of guns range and then begin a sustained climb.
If it's a Spit 2a there is literally nothing you can do. Your only hope is that he runs out of fuel or ammo before he can kill you. |

Simple ... bug out and fight in a situation where you have the advantage.
Remember its the pilot that makes the difference not the plane. |

Take him high, very high. No red fighter will perform up high as good as the 109 in game |

Not sure about that Ze-Jamz (in my experience) - pretty evenly matched at very high alts as long as the Spit jockey doesn't try to follow a BF down but extend maintaining (or gaining if possible) altitude/speed and, most important of all, - visual contact. The latter contibutes equally to the outcome rather than any weaknesses/advantages in FM.

Standard procedure for me would be to pull up and face another direction so I can keep a good look on him, if he turns into me I radio for a quick drag & bag action, if not I start maneuvering towards him and drop in on his low 6 oclock from height, and only fire when either he notices me or his whole plane fills my windscreen.

Yep unfortunately this is due to a limitation we have in games. In real life you could always try to tire out or disorientate your opponent by doing wild evasive moves. Shooting was also a lot harder in real life when you were being thrown around the cockpit. We currently can't simulate this in games.

Doesn´t that depend on your objective? I would differentiate options for certain tasks.
Opt. A: If you have the task to control a certain airspace and you have to no time to enter a long climb contest, but have to decide the situation quick go for nose-to-nose turn and straight into scissors, use you good roll rate and good low speed handling. Opt B: If you have a clean surrounding with low wildcards probability and have the time and space, so no certain task to do, go for a nose-to-tail situation and trade angles for energy. Get out of his gun range and start climbing until you have enough energy to trade for good angles and repeat. Opt. C: If you have no clean surrounding and a high wildcard probabilty, no certain task to do, just go for a nose-to-tail turn, push and dive for home. As TomcatVip I would mostly choose Opt. A, If I just want to have fun. ![]() Quote:

When you are in a 109 and you see an enemy fighter either co-alt, or above you just Think Blenheim. If you were not in a fighter (which you really aren't in this game because the 109 is an interceptor more than a fighter, I.E. good high speed performance and big guns(E-3, E-4). What would you do if you were in a Blenheim? Pray and hope he doesn't see you. Don't think you'll out run him or out turn him. Maybe if he's below you you can fly into the sun and hope he can't get a shot. You could head straight for the ground in a hope that he will accidently kill his motor. You could also try to fly nice and level and hope he doesn't do to much damage or at least you'll die faster so you can respawn and fly again.
![]() P.S. I would do like they did in the pearl harbor movie and just fly really close to the ground and try to get him to crash into something ![]() |
