Hey Blackdog, is there any chance you might keep us updated on that little project of your's ? My Track IR is about a year and a half old and I sure hope it's not going to kick the bucket too soon.
If there were a viable diy option other than freetrack that would be pretty interesting.

Well, it will probably be a while until we get a working prototype (and by "we" i mean a buddy of mine who's going to do most of the work on it, because i have a grasp of the theoretic principles but i lack the necessary technical knowledge to do it myself ), but if something comes up i'll keep you all posted

It adds whole other level of immersion to Flight Sims but I can't race with it at all, when I move my head I want to correct with the wheel...its weird.

I can race and fly with TiR just as well. It all depends on which profiles you use.

For RoF I had to tune up all axes and sensitivities, while for CloD I had to do the opposite and set up a dead zone for x/y/z axes in order to aim properly.

Like someone else said here - it won't make you a better pilot, but it will improve the experience and situational awareness significantly.

Track Ir is rather expensive and may be hard to justify to your Wife/Partner etc.

There is now a much less expensive option with whoarmongars patented alternative system which is now available to you on a FREE 30 day trial.

Simply attach an opticalmouse to a stick and shove the stick down your back so that the optic side of the mouse is touching the back of your head, then adjust your settings on the mouse to suit.
Voila your view now tracks when your head moves ! This is a simple cheap effective answer to your head tracking dreams.
