I'm with Meaker on this one, Honestly what does it take to either ask permission or at least aknowledge and say thank you to the original modders of some of the sounds, thank you BP for your mod, you and Jaffa are breathing a bit of life into this sim.

Just curious what about the original source of the sounds? Do they get acknowledgement too?

I asked the guy if he used your mod or samples from your mod as a source for guns sound or the source is different. He answered that he never heard about your mod and he used his collection of samples he has on his disk since time he made some mods for original IL-2. I do not know if you produced the samples yourself in case you also was making mods for original Il-2 some years ago or you both used the same samples recorded by someone else or they just sound similar. If you recorded the sounds for original IL-2 mods I will let the guy know as he probably did not even new where they came from back then. His guns samples are 4-positional (or 4-channel) btw, are yours the same? Where your samples are coming from?

As for Jafa, if you read my post carefully or read the thread I link to you would see that he indicates that he uses Jafa's samples for Daimler, mixing them with other samples used in original Il-2 mods. Merlin samples came through Tairo who published his first mod on May 2nd when I provided a link to in on these forums (including links to Daimler and Merlin samples) http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthrea...6&daysprune=30 It is probably also coming from original Il-2 mods.

I am sure both Tairo and RBflight would thank you all and even ask permission if you were registered at sukhoi.ru or they were registered here or you spoke the same language at least.

I did not see BigPickle or Jafa giving credits to people who recorded samples they are using in respective threads but I may be missing something. Please let me now where I can find this information and I promise trying to enforce this practice on other forums as well.

PS. I hope the spirit of this community is spirit of sharing, not spirit of pride. Otherwise there would be no point for me to bring pieces of information on scripting from developers or on other mods from sukhoi forums here.

upd. Some MG samples are taken from Jafa mod and mixed with original game sound plus some FX from his own library. Corrected the 1st post.

I'm sure its a language barrier as you have said, and it is entirely possible that he could of used and reworked the same videos or sample and made them very similar namely one of the 303 sounds. I'm not really that fussed though i just reacted is all, and i should state again it is not a permission issue i would never be so arrogant to ask for that.

I always give credit to all the artists etc in my videos and in my threads by saying that
*No copyright infringment intended-all rights belong to any orginal creators of art, sound, or audio from video used in this mod* In saying this i'm giving all credit to the original source.

But like i said I'm not that fussed as I do believe the more mods that are out there the better our end sound from 1C will be anyhow. Anyhow I'm not gonna bring it up again as its pointless. Besides when 1C sort the sound these mods will be a thing of the past.

And guys you should always try other peoples mods, never stick to just one, thats just cutting your nose off especially just because there is some questioning about sources etc or what ever, this guys mod sounds great and you all should check it out regardless of anything i or anyone else has said or done , if not thats how modding communities fall apart just like what happened with AAA, I certainly didnt want to muddy any waters or start a flame war etc so can we let it lay now please

Absolutely, +1. The sounds that these 2 guys have come up with are capturing the spiritual magic of these beautiful machines.
