Default SoW as real as it gets ...

I have recently been playing another unnamed game and have been seriously impressed by the details (graphics, sounds etc.) that all add up to an immense sense of 'being there'. At times, the sense of 'being there' is so great, I have found myself being totally sucked in and actually afraid to 'go there' or 'do that'. It's not often a game can do that.

I know Oleg and team do not have the resources of some of the giant software houses which makes what they are making all the more incredible. The efforts they are going to to add to the immersion are incredible ... the dynamic shadows in cockpit, the 3D glass effect instruments, the long grass & general vegetation, the amazing atmospheric effects etc. I wonder what other small details, when all added together, could raise the immersion factor still higher?

Maybe increased wind noise when a cockpit canopy is broken? If the canopy is open or holed, maybe maps or checklists inside the cockpit could flutter? Fluttering gun port tape? Barking Squadron dog seen running across to your aircraft as you approach dispersal? Chairs and tables kicked over as pilots scramble to their aircraft? The sheer shock of being hit by bullets/shells really makes you think twice about sitting on a bomber's 6. The dense fog forming over your home airfield gets your heart really racing as you struggle to find the runway. I am not saying that any/all of these are the best ideas, but it would be interesting to hear what you all think ...

... which takes me on to a related matter. I had already started a thread on this topic of 'immersion' the other day but it was removed by the moderator. I then started another thread asking why my original thread was removed. That thread too was removed. No PMs and no courtesy was shown to a long standing and active member of this forum. No right for me to reply or for other forum members to contribute/make up their own minds.

Before the threads were pulled, some members did reply with intelligent and very interesting ideas/thoughts. Thank you especially to Zapatista and philip.ed.

This post is on topic and I don't think I have been rude, so please don't delete it and let the other members here have their say.

Thanks, rant over.
